When was the last time you heard of someone winning money for a City win? My lovely Ann won on a 2-1 win for City with a Weimann for good value - YEAH.

    Great win!
Still looking fragile after 75 minutes but thankfully held on this time.

Fantastic day and what a great win against a side that have won 10 of the last 12.
Nigel Pearson got it spot on today.
    Onwards and upwards.

Are you saying if we win it’s down to NP getting spot on. If we lose it’s down to the deadwood he’s been dealt with?

No he dropped a player that has cost us big time in recent games and we all know who that was.

You think that was the difference? Maybe, or what about great saves made by Bentley, who he had dropped?
I still think you would have quoted deadwood had we lost!! :emoticon-0103-cool:

You’re questioning someone who said both Semenyo and HNM were not on the bus earlier this season.

Ummm although I agree in essence, I do see an irony in the highlighted sentence.

But credit where credit is due, firstly he has asked at times this season for the kids to play out of position and they have done it without sulking, unlike some more senior players and as with Sam Bell today he did his best and was integral in the build up to the first goal, the younger players are the future of this club not your deadwood players none of whom got to play today. I take your earlier point about DaSilva improving which he is bit by bit, but not at the level he was when he first joined us, but boy does he owe us that? Massengo is maturing into a far more consistent performer (despite a couple of errors today), Scott is just so cool on the ball and even when under pressure, Pring did his bit during his cameo, Benarous is one for the future, as is Towler, Conway and Sam Pearson, the kids now can see a pathway into the first team.

There is a reason the Wells and Palmer don't play, they ain't good enough, the stats for Semenyo and Scott knock them both into a cocked hat and ODowda has played 129 games for us with 8 goals and 10 assists, that is nowhere near good enough, he lacks consistency and end product.

If we can keep Williams fit and just instil just a little bit more order to a midfield that at times gets over excited and too often instead of playing the simple ball attempts to play Hollywood balls, Middlesborough were good today in and around our box and with the diagonal runs made by players inside the box.

On a different note, another irony not lost on me today, Middlesborough were a team SL said are in FFP peril, but wow they seemingly pushed the boat in January with quite a few signings, I wonder how that might play out if they don't get promoted?

Semenyo on fire and Bentley saves were the difference between winning or losing the game today imo.. apart from two mistakes, Massengo was excellent, nearly scored a wonder goal, moved the ball quickly and even won his fair share of headers for such a little one..
Bell, Klose, Williams & Kalas were also very good today. I actually thought Scott was a bit quiet, (hardly featured in first half, improved in the second) he’s had better games imo.

Massengo was as you described but the wonder goal should have been a pass to the better placed Martin who also played well, the angle was too tight for a shot. You are wrong about Scott he played a huge part in both of our goals especially his persistence for the 2nd.

So I’m wrong and you don’t think he’s had better games?
NB. Scott lost his man and was wrong side for their goal....but hey we prefer to dwell on Massengo's mistakes!!

Rod you know as well as I do these two have come on leaps and bounds under Nigel Pearson-these guys are now key to our team and future.
I just hope they will stay and be part of a team the Nige will build to take us to the promised land.

If you couldn’t see their potential before Nige was appointed then your dafter than I give you credit for.
Nige even said last season he wanted 11 HNM, but you still made that he’s not on the bus claim. Likewise it was obvious that he rated Semenyo really high.
As to them staying, it comes down to if we can afford to keep them. As much as I would like to see them both stay, it’s going to be difficult once the bidding war starts in the summer for Semenyo.
This won’t be a case of the Lansdown’s not backing him, more a case of needs must to survive a points deduction. Hopefully Lloyd Kelly or Webster moves to prevent it needing to be the case. But I think the timing will be off.
