I’m not sure Johansen has the stomach for it. Bloke hid disgracefully at Millwall. Give me Amos’ lack of ability but desire over that.
Our grip on the play offs is feeling more weak by the minute. Have to agree with the madness of playing Willock out of position especially when Odabajo is right there. Feel like Austin suffered from terrible choices by his team mates today. Multiple times he's making the right moves in the box only for players to not release the ball early enough (if at all). Thought his header was a decent effort and Gray achieved nothing when he replaced him. We seem so static at the moment, so little movement which makes it all the more puzzling we have a busy player like George Thomas getting splinters on the bench. I'd be giving both him and Ball some game time now.
I agree that Johansen has looked strangely poor, but I really don't think Amos looks like he's full of desire. He seems too often to hide, shirk responsibility and definitely chicken out of challenges. I think there's a half decent player in there, but maybe the Championship isn't the place for him.
Thats 8 point droppes over the last 3 games in my humble opinion. We have to dig deep now to hold on to a play off spot. As soon as i saw Willock at lwb, i thought ffs. Our most influential attacker being asked to back track and waste his energy we need for going forwards. There are too many players not performing at the moment. Amos came in today and joined that group. Even when we were picking up results, our performances werent great, now the latter is still the case and we are dropping points. Its like the movement further up the pitch has totally deserted us. This position is ours to lose and on form we may just do that.
The result wasnt good enough but I thought the performance was a big improvement on Posh, Barnsley and Wall. Thought Hendrix was excellent MOM for me. Sinton and London were shocked when he finally mispassed a long ball late on. Field was very good too. Willock and Chair as well. Agree Willock is better used just behind the strikers but he did do a great job at WB and played well in a forward wide left role with Chair Hendrick and Field at times. Maybe Moses wasnt fit enough for some reason to play 90, I dont know.
What about playing Dozell in there then, maybe with a bit more license to get forward more he could excel ?
Have to agree col. Willock is far more effective and dangerous forwards, we had players on the bench who could have done that role equally well even if they were playing out of position. Especially at home and against a team in the relegation area of this league. if we could only have pulled out the win we might have seen that team spirit revived too. So another reason to keep Willock upfield. It’s a point. Others have dropped points too I guess. Bournemouth can easily cement the second auto spot now. We have to make sure the likes of Florists and Sheffield Utd don’t eek us out of our play off position - could easily happen if we don’t kick back in to form. Win against B’pool would be just the right medicine. Drop points again and we are in trouble (as far as a play-off place goes).
How do we go from winning well and regularly, with great team morale to play like strangers and individually crap, lacking any desire, over the space of the last month? The team doesn’t seem to be playing for the manager and or as a unit……… or am l missing something?
Agree about Austin, he was at times at players not playing the ball in & you could see him being frustrated as he did make space but nobody passed or crossed it
What the fxxk is wrong with people, we are 4th, play offs in our own hands, with a limited squad that cost very little money. Its been an amazing season with every opportunity now for us to make the play offs get behind the Hoops for the run in and we will be there. Just look at other squads then u will see how well we are doing. Hopefully see u all at Blackburn for another valuable point
It’s fine lines. I don’t think we played especially well when we’ve won this season, at least not when I’ve been there, with perhaps Reading the exception. No evidence of lack of team spirit or not playing for the manager at all. Austin, who really didn’t contribute anything today, was fully engaged as his frequent fits of pique and throwing his arms in the air in frustration demonstrated. The way the team celebrated, especially with Moses for his great assist, after the equaliser, showed that they care. We just have a few players off form, and in an incredibly competitive league that’s the difference. When we started to play properly today, when Moses had come on, we were almost back to normal, just left it too late to sneak a winner. My chief criticism would be we waited too late to go on the offensive properly. Don’t panic.
I noticed in the second half that Barbet going forward invariably passed the ball forward to the right. This was the case when Willock was in acres of unmarked space ahead of Barbet to his left. On the rare occasion Barbet looked up or to the left and passed the ball to Moses, it resulted in the Chair goal.
Having watched brief highlights we seemed to have been completely sawn off by the officials. They should have had a red card. Albert looked onside. They nearly got a winner when clearly offside. WTF?
Oh and Ingram's assault on Albert had to be a penalty and reckless foul play, so another red card too.
