The standard of officiating has been so bad today that the 4th official has completely forgotten to put up the board for injury time
We have our great club back, good tactical changes too by KM today. 4 pts off now, and 5 between 4th and 9th. Game still on.
A nice 3-0 win from a match that I thought could've been abandoned due to heavy rainfall. Like McKenna said in his pre-match, we needed to stay patient and trust the process and the result will come. First half wasn't pretty, not helped by terrible weather and an even worse ref. An early goal, scored in under a minute after Burton had kicked off got us into a strong position. Burton played pretty well, getting the ball forward early and winning free kicks and throw ins in dangerous areas. We gave possession away too easily and McKenna probably won't be happy with that but we got through it. Second half we had more control and better passages of play and should've scored more than the 2 we did. I thought Jackson had a great game but Piggott was a waste of space again, he doesn't look like a player that will benefit us much to be honest. Aluko did a lot of good work so I'll forgive him for the complete hash he made of an excellent counter attack. The subs came on and made a difference and the end result is a fair reflection of the game. You can feel that there is more to come from this team. Surely there will be people on TWTD that will be saying that we aren't winning convincingly enough and all the other crap you read on there from fans that think we should be winning games like Man City every week. Sorry, this is League One and sometimes you will have to scrap to earn a result. Happy with the result and the consistency in defence that we are now showing.
Apart from getting drenched on the way to the ground that was an almost perfect afternoon. We’re certainly getting our Club back.
Player ratings are out from the EADT. Hampy. Should write a strongly written letter disputing their conclusions.., Lee Evans The midfielder, back in the side after illness, was in the thick of the action throughout a game which included some big tackles, good passing, dangerous crosses into the box and one superb clearance off the line. He and Morsy are Town’s best midfield pairing. It’s good to have him back – hopefully the knee injury which forced him off in the final minute isn’t too bad. Pushing hard for the man-of-the-match award in this one. 8/10
