I'd happily sit on a deck chair on top of the Gallowgate if they supply the ladders And it's all muscle btw
“Or we just leave it as it is and increase prices for everyone except Trevor.” Is what I think you meant to say.
The damn renewal forms have just been received this week. Was hoping that might have been delayed for a mont or two and not followed Ashley’s trick of getting you to pay 5 years before the season starts.
While not impossible, getting around listings is very difficult. The relevant government departments would have to get involved including the Heritage side of things. The local planning department would have to be on board first and foremost too. These buildings are beautiful and in great nick too. I suppose in theory you could take them down brick by brick and rebuild elsewhere if money was no object. It seems highly unlikely but nothing is impossible in this regard. I work in construction and have seen the Secretary of State step in plenty of times to change listings, change of uses, all manner of things. I suppose the Saudis being so deep in with our government and potentially transforming the city means it’s foolish to get too hard and fast about what is possible.
I've no idea what might be possible or has effectively been ruled out by planning or architectural considerations, but can the East Stand be given new foundations and the stand built higher?
Good grief. Some of you are seriously suggesting removing/demolishing/replacing the finest building in Newcastle's finest neighbourhood on account of trying to add a few thousand more seats to a stadium that can only ever be hemmed in? Perhaps you'd consider paving over Grey Street while you're at it - you could park a thousand cars there for season ticket holders.
Plenty of room to build up before the listed buildings? If it blocks there sunlight I couldn’t give a chuff.
Who gives a flying **** about old buildings? Buildings crumble end of. The idea of making anything over a certain age protected is quite frankly dumb as ****. Its hardly the Great pyramid and its not like it has some sort of historical value - I dare say some rooting around and we would find the original builder, designer and owner kept slaves and then all the Karens would be up in arms and burning their bra's demanding it would be reduced to rubble anyways.
