Well that's one of the things we needed to happen for us to have a decent chance of automatic promotion. As you say it wasn't unpredictable. It doesn't look likely but if Neil can get something going then who knows. It's not over yet.
well the thought of Wembley and a play off final and 80,000+ supporters there and i would like to go for the first time at the new stadium.
I think he'll play a 4-2-3-1,which I'm a bit disappointed with, because I like the 3 at the back with wing backs. Our better performances this season have been with that system. Patterson,Hume,Wright,Batth,Cirkin-Evans,Matete,-Pritchard,Neil,Clarke-Stewart
Alex Neil update: "We want to move the ball quickly - I don't like laboured build-up, but equally we don't just want to go back-to-front. "We need to try to get into more dangerous positions, more quickly, in the final third and put more crosses into the box, we need to be more aggressive in terms of first positions, and all that kind of stuff has been the focus in this first week. "I try to keep the messages simple, I've looked at all the stats, and we need to get the fundamentals right. "We need to run more, we need to tackle more, we need to get the ball forward more, we need to pick up more second balls, and if we can more of the fundamentals right, the detail then can make the difference. "What we have got is some talented players who have got quality if we get them into certain areas of the pitch - we just need to get them there more often. "We've been sharing our time between doing work out on the training pitch and in the video room, trying to get as much content into them as we can because you can only do so much on the training pitch without a physical drop-off, and we have three games next week. "We've worked them hard this week but within reason to make sure they don't die a death come Saturday." As with any manager or head coach, Neil wants his team to play his style of football. But he is wary of getting 'bogged down' by talk of footballing philosophies. "There'll be a certain style that you'll see," he said. "Once you're in the building and you get people working, you should be able to watch a game in black and white and be able to pick out which is your team. "I'm hoping we can get to that stage really quite quickly. "We have to try to find a way to win, but if it isn't working then we need to be even more aggressive to force the issue. "But I don't want to get too bogged down in talking about philosophies. "When you think about philosophy, people start thinking about Man City and they play the way they play because they have a squad worth about a billion pounds and they can all put the ball wherever they like at any moment.
Thinking about it I'd just start Defoe and let him play as long as can. Even if we get a half out of him he might make a difference
HA'WAY THE LADS MACKEMS ATTACKEM Well I was convinced this was our year for promotion, still could be of course. Looking like the playoffs at best, hopefully Neil can get the right formula to win them if we cement a place. No prediction from me, I think a draw would be an acceptable result after our recent form. Hopefully a win of course.
Thank you RTB. I’ll take any type of win , or accept a draw with an jndication that the players are happy because they know what their job is and are happy to get on with it within an understood team objective . 1-0, 3-3 , 5-4 ?? I don’t know !
I'm missing today's game, come to work for a bit o/t as I do most Saturdays. Only to find out I'm despatched up to Teesdale and Weardale to do the work that got failed yesterday due to the weather. The last game I missed due to work was the Ipswich 2-0. Here's hoping.
A top priority end of the season...no matter which division we're in. No point in having outstanding facilities and a crap playing surface. I found the minutes of the meeting a bit confusing on this tbh. I know the concerts bring in revenue, but,**** them, our business is playing football, and that needs sorting.
I thought they said they had done the job on the pitch since the last home game. This would last 3 years when it would need to be done over a full summer?
looking forward to this one and what Alex will bring to the team.Im much more confident that this guy can identify the problem we have and fix them even though none of this team are his choice signings. like his pressers and now await to see an improvement on what we became under LJ
Very surprised if a temporary fix last 3 years. Really pissed off with this,we need a perfect carpet to play our football on.
I’ve thought this for a while but why don’t they do changes to increase the sunlight getting to the pitch? They said airflow was an issue as well so that could be improved. I’d like to see us tackle the causes of the pitch problems.
