I expected us to win but this was no foregone conclusion.

Inter didn't have a single shot on target against Liverpool, the first time they have failed to do so in any home league or European game since we started receiving Opta data in 2009.

They haven't lost a lot at home over the past year as well.

They lost to AC Milan. But like I said yesterday not sure if you get home advantage when you share a stadium anyway. I guess just have more fans

No game should be a foregone conclusion, even for us fans. If I find myself wandering down that path, I retreat quickly.

Dunno bout anyone else but not having to consider away goals is something I'll have to get used to.

    Loved away goals :bandit:

Not sure I follow. They've been playing there for almost a 100 years, and they play half their games there and the other at away stadiums (same as every team in the professional football lol).

San Siro is an iconic place and they would definitely home advantage ...

Ac Milan and Inter Milan play at the same ground. So when inter lost 2-1 at home to AC Milan, it’s not really like AC Milan were playing away…

But its also AC Milan's home turf too... So his point was AC got the same "home familiarity" boost that Inter got... Cancelling it out.

Presumably though as nominal home team Inter was allowed more fans for the "home" game.

I only learnt last night there are three dressing rooms at the San Siro........one red,one blue and one for visiting teams.
Anyway.....does anyone know the average age of that Inter team/squad? Around the hour they noticeably dropped their intensity.

Your point still stands and one that I made, they don’t lose many home games and only one in the league this year has been to ac Milan so a 2-0 win out there isn’t to be sniffed at

the average age wasn't actually that bad.

the ref was their oldest player ;)

    Handanovic 37
    skriniar 27
    De Vrij 30
    Bastoni 22
    dumfries 25
    Vidal 34 (lunatic
    Brozovic 29
    Calhanogiu 28
Perisic 33 (did vanish after henderson came on)
    Martinez 24
    dzeko 35

so theres some age but not all that much. They have no real pace i nthe front 2 and that hurt them when they were dominant. I thought perisic lasted well enough

they did four late subs on 87 mins. that says the manager didn't trsut too many on the bench to keep the intensity up

we made a sub at HT and then 3 on 60mins so inevitably if you get hard running henderson, diaz and the rather one paced keita coming in your legs won't keep up i suppose

he only sub they made early enough was sanchez for martinez.

for me their manager has to take some blame there for not having the runners to come in

Think they only died after conceding, that goal destroyed them mentally

How much of a difference does the decision for the corner takers to switch sides make? It's was outswingers all game, then Robertson switched to taking them on the right and TAA to the left, meaning inswingers and we score the goal. Also who made the decision? Was it made on the pitch, by the coaches or was it a pre-laid plan to switch if there was no joy after a certain time?

we love an out swingers. It looks to me we prefer the ball coming towards us and away from the line of defenders to win second ball if nothing else.

you never know really, trent could have been tried, could have a knock, took the last 3 **** and robbo stuck his hand up. or it could be a preplanned zone to hit cos firmino was then on.

    no idea.

did trent not take one from the left as well though? I can't recall.

I said the other week that we needed to switch things up a bit on corners and then the next game(?) Trent does an inswinger and we score. They should be doing it all the time.

Yeah, they swapped sides. I think i read somewhere (The Athletic) that Jota was also tasked with the front post run for outswingers, so the "striker" would have made that run whether it was Firmino or Jota in the role?

I've noticed that Diaz takes up a position next to the goalkeeper on corners. Something we don't usually do but since he came he's either been tasked with it or does it because it's what he likes to do.
