Who's going to police people giving evidence to back up their statements? Wonder if somebody is going to state that the irony isn't lost on me. I wonder...
So. Football hooliganism on the rise is now something that journos shouldn't report on cos it might affect ticket sales and its somehow Burnsy fault. ****ing ridiculous. It needs stamping out.
The song about Mitrovic being a see you next Tuesday whilst warranted did make me cringe with a good few young city supporters around me...
Load of my mates got banned from west lower in our first premier league season due to other fans been upset about their abuse of the opposing players
The last season or two in France has seen carnage in the stands, several matches having been abandoned with pitch invasions and players attacked. Far worse than we've seen over here.
Depends how you view this “rise” in yobboishness. If you go back to the 70,s and 80,s then this is in truth minor. Yes there are incidents but when we have been through a period of mostly non violence then it stands out but no need to make it out to be Armageddon.
Right, I've given it one read and a bit of contemplation, and in my view, it was interesting, and maybe it's my limited understanding but I reckon the main concepts may work well as a tool to help psychologists, but it falls down in several key areas as philosophy, and much of what there is seems to be drawn from eastern philosophies anyway. As an example, they seem to be saying that happiness is being able to be of use to others, and that would include the 'use' you provide to others as they benefit from caring for you if you were so ill you were laid up unresponsive in bed. That could be of 'use' to just one person in some cases, but it still provides happiness. It also says that out of a group of 10 people, one will dislike you, two will like you and the rest will be somewhere in between, and you should focus on the ones that like you, and not worry about the one that doesn't. It also says that you shouldn't dwell on past issues as they will hold you back, but look to live in the here and now. So, using the above, a person could be filled with happiness by being of great use to many, many people and harming few, by simply robbing the bed ridden one who is only providing happiness to their son, yet the robber would be of use to the Police, Court, Prison, journalists, probation, social workers etc etc
It's far too sanitized these days (in my opinion)? My cousin and three of his mates were ejected from S6 last Saturday...Their crime?,one of them dozed off!! Stewards,a decent handful of police,a push on my mate(alleged) who's incapacitated due to only having one leg(and who's been going to City the same time as me but on a far more regular basis).. I had bother myself the previous week,I await an answer from the Club and if it's not to my satisfaction it'll be an away campaign from now on!!
Does it have to be about city when I they're discussing a general trend? I suppose Burns was being negative about city when spending most of sportstalk a couple of weeks ago talking about Grimsby trashing a train or the behaviour of fans at the euro final? It isnt Burnsy that will affect ticket sales its the cretinous yobs that will. 70's and 80s repeating itself.
Kind of. İt's really simply about tasks. Who's task is it. Who benefits in situations. Avoiding conflict as it's not your task but the other persons. Also it's denying trauma completely. İt does not exist. The community feeling element ties in to it but it can be harder to figure out that bit. İt takes a few reads imo. İt all draws from the likes of Marcus Aurelius and Epictetus etc. Adler must have been influenced by the stoics heavily i think.
Local radio that covers 3 clubs and national issues also? Come off it. Some people are trying really hard to justify the chip on their shoulder with Humberside. Same debates are being had elsewhere. It's part of a wider trend.
There's no 'come off it' needed. It's local radio which means by definition it should give the local context, or they'd be telling us to be careful about blizzards in Scotland or stabbings in London if we're going to walk down Newland Park.
They might even discuss Rugby union internationals played in front of 80,000 instead of ignoring them and pretending there is only one code of rugby and that one is a big deal nationwide.
