Good Morning. It's Friday 18th February, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Firpo returns to training Junior Firpo has returned to training, according to Leeds-Live journalist Joe Donnohue. The former Barcelona left back was spotted being put though his paces in preparation for Sunday's crunch match against Manchester Utd. It remains to be seen whether he is fit enough to start on Sunday having missed the last three games with a troublesome hamstring injury. So far this season he has clocked up 931 minutes of game time, just less than half, compared to Meslier and Dallas! please log in to view this image Merseyside Police defend their use of pepper spray towards Leeds fans Merseyside Police have defended their use of pepper spray towards Leeds fans at Goodison Park last weekend. Videos have emerged on social media showing heavy-handed police tactics, and excessive use of pepper spray as they attempted to arrest a Leeds fan accused of assaulting a steward. Scuffles broke out, bottles were thrown and several officers were punched. Merseyside Police claim: "At around 4.05pm at the start of the second half, it was reported a steward had been headbutted by a man in the away section on the Lower Bullens stand. "Officers attended and while attempting to detain the male, other members of the crowd began to throw bottles at officers and two officers were punched to the face. "One man, aged 44, from Skipton, was arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly and assaulting an officer. He was taken into custody to be interviewed and has been released under investigation. "When police were assaulted, officers deployed PAVA spray in order to bring the situation under control for the safety of fans near to the disturbance. "Efforts were made immediately after to identify anyone affected by the spray and provide them with aftercare and support. "The use of PAVA in this incident has been reviewed by our Professional Standards Department who are satisfied that its use was proportionate and necessary. "Enquiries into the incident are ongoing and Merseyside Police is examining CCTV and working with Everton FC and Leeds United to establish the full circumstances and identify any offenders." Graham Hyde, the vice-chair of the Leeds United Supporters Trust, disagreed that using pepper spray was proportionate and also claimed that the incident was aggravated by a steward. "We do not wish to see anyone hurt including fans, stewards and police, and would always prefer to see the handling of fans done in a diplomatic and non-inflammatory manner," "We don't challenge there was over-reaction from fans and bottles thrown. We don't want to see that or anyone's safety endangered." "There always seems to be a rush to blame the fans rather than looking at the whole picture." please log in to view this image Leeds need bigger squad, better players and MB needs to accept better players when offered Penning replies to Leeds fans on 'The Athletic' website, Leeds Utd journalist Phil Hay has suggested that Marcelo Bielsa needs a bigger squad, better players and should accept 'better tools' when offered. The Argentine rejected the chance to sign a host of players including Harry Winks and Donny van de Beek during the January transfer window, angering many Leeds fans. Their anger turned to despair last weekend after the ever reliable Stuart Dallas joined Cooper, Phillips and Bamford on the treatment table. According to Hay:- "Better tools is what I’d like to see - but also a willingness from Bielsa to accept better tools and maybe allow for a little more depth to mitigate the injuries. The injuries are so bad and relentless that I don’t think it’s enough to say ‘they’ll clear up eventually’. (The absence of Phillips and Bamford have been massive), but I think to pin the entire season to those two absences would be wrong. There’s been more to it than that. Form has been an issue from the start". please log in to view this image
Good morning with each place higher up the table being reported to be worth 3 million surely a couple of loans would be paid for. Seen posts on here saying we could be in tenth spot. So at least 15 million more in the kitty. Rads is supposed to be a business man. The 49ers must be wondering what they have bought. No way will rads get the price he wants if we finish 17th or go down. So that means he may stick it out for another season. He wants top six.. Really? Not with this squad he needs to wake up.
Newcastle new boy trippier has broken his foot. Some times luck deserts you and it was a big gamble signing him. Are they back in trouble now? What if we lost Ayling and ended up with half pint shakleton a giant among pygmies. Who would we play if rodrigo gets injured?. Yeah i know I'm not a True Leeds fan because i do not worship our coach. Let's see what side he puts out on Sunday and employs that silly man marking again. Man utd are quicker than us so will just use the space we provide. You just know pretty boy will go down in the box. Posters are saying enjoy the football. What football did we play at Everton. City? Honestly our tactics are so nieve so it's thanks Bielsa for what you have done and the 24 million we paid you and your team. But if this is the best you can do then time to move along.
We have a massive task on our hands this Sunday, we have to get it right from the kick off, concentration levels have to be focused and perfect on the job in hand. I would play Struijk at LB as he adds height also in set pieces, Koch and Llorente at CB, Forshaw in holding MF and dish it out, Raphinha needs a rocket and a big reminder that he has not had a good run out for ages. LUFC supporters club need to take the scouse cops to task over the incident, involve the club, keep at them just like them scousers did over Hillsboro, you never know they maybe believe that they did do wrong in the end just like the cops at Hillsboro.
I believe Bielsa will know he has made some errors this season, but I also believe he thinks he can rescue the season and I support him. Mistakes 3 transfer windows and not replaced Pablo Only having 18 1st teamers when just 2 more would have meant 2 less U23s used on the bench and more U23 s playing in their league. Also would mean we had 2 real first teamers at times when we had 9 out injured Due to lack of players too many players square pegging which means Dallas and Shackelton used before Drameh when Drameh was the real RWB and proving it in the EFL and Welsh fans loving him. Last weekends mistake if not using a fit Firshaw and having Klich struggle cost us the game. The insistence that Roberts plays before Gelhardt is just plain wrong, wrong, wrong. Joffy has played about 110 minutes and scored a goal and won 2 penalties and a great assist for Dan James. Roberts has played well over a 100 games and done nothing Why do we go 3 at the back against certain teams who may play 4-4-2
All of us support Leeds and come game time Bielsa will be supported too. How we will feel after the game depends on team selection and what position some are played. Dallas and firpo not fit enough but one may play. Has anyone seen the presser to get a clue. The thing is we could get a right hiding if Bielsa gets it wrong again.
How many of our players would get into the scum team? Raphinha and thats it, so man for man they should beat us so its down to Bielsa to try and get something out of this game. If we lose its expected, but if we lose through crap play and tactics then thats down to Bielsa
I would take llorente, struick,Koch, cresswell, coops any day of the week over kryton head Maguire ....so that's updated the total
Villa rearranged Thursday 10th March. Norwich moved to Sunday the 13th. If I remember correctly, this will **** up Shako's plans.
Certainly has Gessa. Myself and my son were flying to scum on the Fri and then flying back to Dublin on the Sun morn at 12.30. The rest of the people going are on the evening flight back on Sun. It's 174 to get that evening flight back. I ain't got that kinda money.
