If his main motivation is money then League One isn't for you Roy. Best stay in the Sky Sports studio.

It was length of deal. He wanted to be backed but speakman don't think he was worth it.

Did they offer him this '12 month rolling deal' arrangement that Neil has signed?

Hoenstly. The stuff the club are trying to put out via Barnes et al is incredibly disingenuous

If the deal they offered him was to the end of the season then it was a pointless exercise even talking to him. No way would he leave sky for a 4 month deal. Season ends in April I think.

Why should his motivation be different to anyone else's though? No other candidate would have come for a reduction in salary. None of us would.

if they couldn't afford him, which should have been sorted immediately, then leave it and get the man sitting waiting, while two games pass away.

Mind it might have been " High Roy. In the interests of full disclosure, and in the context of club dynamics, we would like to consider you for a second interview to discuss our mission statement and vision"

" There month initial term". " Sound good? ".

No way can we compete with his sky wage though so it was doomed from the start if his salary was the issue. But it seems as though it wasn't, looks like length of contract offered was less than 12 months. I wouldn't have left sky for a deal for less than 12 months and they could have found that out long before they spoke directly to him. As you say, they wasted 2 games messing about

I think there was a starry-eyed element between the club and Keane.

Reason seemed to go out the window, especially from the club’s side.

Could you imagine the number of mags attending matches with their banners to shout at the stadium if that happened??

I’ll be honest I’d have picked Keane but I think Speakman called it right so fair play to him

How is it a shambles, we didn't get Keane, probably took a week too long but not sure why it's a shambles. Don't think not getting Keane is a big loss, he hardly has a great managerial record

I honestly don't understand the Keane thing. Yes he got us promoted but everybody forgets that he oversaw us putting mediocre players on huge contracts that cost the club dearly in the long run. He motivated players in the short term but that never really seemed to last as players slowly got sick of his attitude. His record at Ipswich was poor and his involvement with Ireland is well documented so apart from the fact he might kick a few up the arse and get them going for the short term I can't really see what he would offer long term. I would much rather we gave the job to Neil who has a decent record and his win ratio in championship is not bad than Keane ( that said I think we may have missed the boat to take a punt on Kisnorbo)
