Morning all. Bright blue sky and a temperature of 10°C when I went to fetch some bread. Springlike for now, but somehow I doubt it will stay like it. In France a pedestrian crossing seems to be an optional set of lines painted on the road. The nearest small town has two of them, about twenty metres apart. Pedestrians look very bemused if you stop at them to let them cross the road as many will only step off the pavement if there are no cars in sight. I suppose that stopping is one of the traits I have brought with me from the UK. Have a good day and let's hope from a decent showing from the team tonight. <ok>

Morning all. Bright blue sky and a temperature of 16°C expected. My daily look at the Météo suddenly has become unavailable as the page no longer exists. Having discovered that the forecast is now still there, but has been redesigned. What was a straightforward display of information, has been changed to a "cleaner" look whatever that means, so now you have to scroll down to see everything that was once a quick glance. Some web page designer clearly had little to do one day. Have a good day everyone. <ok>

Yesterday my wife and I did a health of the nation day at a Biobank centre.....we have been part of a study for years.... so we did TWO MRI scans, a whole body bone scan, ultrasounds, ECG, various other tests plus bloods etc..... Very tiring day but good to have taken part.....

They dont report back to you about your health... as it is for research.... but if they see something sinister they do let your GP know.... hoping to not get any unsoliciited calls from my GP in the next two weeks

Morning all. The sun is shining and only a light breeze, so feeling cheerful for another day. I discovered last night that a trip to the bottle bank is a job I must do today. Not a bad job at this time of year, but later it can be a bit of a hazard when the wasps and hornets are buzzing around to have a drink. They do not take kindly to receiving a bottle on their heads. Have a good day everyone. <ok>

Morning all. Bright and breezy, and not such a comfortable temperature as the wind is now coming from the north.
Départ en vacances : Bison Futé voit rouge en Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. This is what the headlines are about in the French press today. The start of the holiday season for a third of the schools and colleges, while another third return from their two weeks away. The autoroutes to the mountains for a spot of skiing will be clogged up every time a toll booth bars the way. Our part time neighbours from Paris returned to the village yesterday before the traffic build up today. My skiing will be done from the comfort of my armchair watching others hurtle into safety netting at the Olympics. Have a good day everyone. <ok>

Morning all. Bright but cold when I went on the bread run. It looks as though the remote control for my TV has died. Despite new batteries which seemed to be the first place to start no joy. Now looking for a replacement, but not that sure what I need. There are two remotes, one for the satellite box, and one for the TV. No problem with the one for the box, so I don't wish to get a replacement for that, so now looking at universal ones that could control both. Anyone had a similar experience? Let's hope for a good day. <ok>

No, sorry, ofh, ours are separate. I have bought replacement remotes before and they’ve all worked, which is a pretty cool thing really, when you think about it.

Thanks andy. It would help if there was somewhere near here that sells them. A lengthy drive, or order off the internet. :emoticon-0101-sadsm

Morning all. Some cloud about that means the sun keeps popping in and out. Being winter still, a Sunday morning in the countryside often starts with the sound of someone letting fire with their shotgun. It happened this morning, but there seems to be little wildlife of any size to aim at. There are signs that deer are still about and maybe a wild boar, but I haven't seen any for several weeks around here. I did have a deer dash across the road in front of the car last week, which means slow right down as they often appear in twos. I think it will be a take it easy day with just a few light tasks. Have a good day whatever you will be doing. <ok>

Morning all. There was some overnight rain, but dry at the moment. According to French news, there are about 9 million people in the country who have had two doses of the vaccine, but not the booster dose so far. As of tomorrow without the booster the existing certificate of vaccination will become invalid, meaning that entrance to restaurants, bars, theatres, sporting events will no longer be possible. I put this into the same way you need to obtain a driving licence to take a car out. If you want to have rights you have to earn them by complying with the rules. Others of course don't se it this way at all. Have a good day everyone. <ok>

Morning all. Bright and dry, but chilly. Rain expected this afternoon. Mme. has a hospital appointment today to see how the injections to the knee have gone. Seems to have worked most days, but the last doctor to give her treatment waved her leg around to such a degree that she now has a very painful hip. She is hoping that the consultant who started the treatment is back from holiday so she can have a moan about his colleague. I have a suspicion that the next trip there will be to get the hip x-rayed. Have a good day everyone. <ok>

Morning all. Wet and not at all inviting outside. All went well at the hospital yesterday, especially as they have now joined up the old and new buildings. Doctor phoned up the X-ray department and sent Mme to get her hips looked at, and instead of having to leave one part, walk along the path, then reenter the old section she could walk along the new corridor. By the time she returned to the doctor he already had her x-rays on his computer, No problems to see, so a spot of physio is suggested. Good job she will not see the WFC physio department, they might find she has muscle imbalance. Have a good day everyone. <ok>

Morning all. Sunshine and cloud today, but unlike parts of the UK very little wind. Now have my TV working fully again since I bought the right zapper. Had one delivered that didn't connect to my decoder box, only the TV. Still it was only a few euros, so I will keep at as a spare. A different one has now arrived and is fine. My knees are quite happy not to have to spend time on the floor while I search for the small buttons that change channels. Have a good day everyone. <ok>
