Any list that doesn't include Ashbee isn't worth bothering with.

Ian ashbee? I know these lists are personal choice but none of these players with the exception of Deano played at the highest level for city. Andy Dawson? Surely these two are far more legendary?

For me - Ashbee and Barmby should be in! I'm not so sure about Daws, if it's limited to Top 20.

although not necessarily the most popular man around the backroom at hull city, and indeed I am told that he could also hold the dubious record for being the most miserable bugger of any to watch Hull City (allegedly), however David Bond, is still the best and most knowledgeable local sports reporter to have graced the press boxes of Boothferry and The Circle. Indeed he is probably up there with many Yorkshire based journos of our time.

I would probably put him in the top twenty Hull City 'unsung heroes' of the past 30 years along with likes of Dave King, Freddie Cowell perhaps, and even due to the pittense of a reward they endured under the stewardship of a Circus tent owner, Chris Chilton and Colin Appleton.

    Anymore suggestions?

Tbh he's probably only left Ash out to get people talking about the book, which I suppose works but then it devalues the book as you leave out a huge part of Hull City history in Ian Ashbee

well its down to everyones OWN personal choice and the era that they supported the club. unless you are 80+ in age then how can you give such a list of players from so many different decades. as an example i never saw Raich Carter play for city (before my time) but he surely would have to be in the top 20.

so from my time(mid 60's) supporting the Mighty Tigers to the present day my top 20 would be this...But in no particular order as Legendary status can be defined by many different reasons.

Ken Wagstaff - Chris Chilton - Ken Houghton - Chris Simpkin - Ian Butler - John Kaye - Ian McKechnie

Peter Skipper - Tony Norman - Billy Whitehurst - Gareth Roberts - Keith Edwards - Billy Askew - Warren Joyce

Ian Ashbee - Nick Barmby - Andy Dawson - DEANO WINDASS - Bo Myhill - Stuart Elliott :emoticon-0103-cool:

good grief StavrosTiger you old bugger you. If you saw all your 20 play that is ? lol. i would have loved to see Raich Carter play as well as Jensen and Bly but alas i am not that old. hehehe.

As good as a journalist as he was, this is terrible. Ashbee's omission from the list doesn't cause debate,it makes the book a false account of our history. Waggy,Chillo and the rest were good players but in actual fact achieved nowt whilst at City, shocking.

The only man in English football history to captain a team from the bottom to the top doesn't make the top twenty players in a club that has achieved nowt in 107 years, terrible Mr Bond.

IAN ASHBEE IS A FOOTBALLING LEGEND NEVER MIND A HULL CITY ONE. NO PLAYER ANYWHERE - EVER HAS DONE WHAT ASH HAS DONE.

Football in general should honor the man for what he did @ Hull City when he finally hangs up his boots.

    Hall of Fame surely ?

Got to admit I've never been his biggest fan but Ashbee does deserve to be in there ... I'd put Stuby Elliott in too <ok>:smiley-finger007:

The thing is David Bond has watched City for a very many years. He has seen the vast amount of players since probably the late 50s, like me, and I knew David very well. It is extremely difficult to then pick out 20 top players because everyone will not agree with those 20. It doesnt make him an idiot or stupid. He sees it as he sees it. Many of you will not have seen hardly any of those players. Quite rightly you would pick probably 20 players from your era. Does that make you stupid in the oldies eyes? No of course not. Show a bit of bloody respect even if you dont agree with him.
