The Standard are claiming that Cressida Dick's resignation wasn't due to Sadiq Khan's vote of no confidence.
There's an anti-corruption review that's due to be published next month and she was one of the early recipients.
It paints a very dim view of the Met, apparently. That's why she walked.

There was a Radio 4 series on it. The circumstances are almost unbelievable. And prosecutions continued when it was known the IT system wasn't working. Unfortunately when it comes to blaming management it always seems difficult to put names to the wrongdoing. Not a problem they have when it comes to claiming responsibility for things that go right in order to claim their bonuses/share options.

Just reading the book by Nick Wallis , astonishing incompetence and arrogance from the post office ,they even tried to remove the judge from the case when he didn't agree with them , the auditors that they employed started to find evidence against the computer programmer so they started to discredit them

Strictly speaking that's not happening today. It's got Saturday's date on it, for some reason! <laugh>
Hardly surprising that Rod Liddle would want to be friends with Putin, though.
Lebedev wanted to install him as the editor of The Independent until everyone threatened to quit.

A man shouting abuse at a Labour conference and the same man shouting abuse at the Labour leader?
What a shocking turn of events! <yikes>
