'Like I said Spark I'm not judging anyone as circumstances can vary from game to game.I'm not one to subscribe to this fairweather or plastic fan nonsense.A fan is a fan'..........well said ITIWRAN.

By 'definition', I am a 'plasic' or 'fairweather' fan.....seen two home games so far this season & will probably take in another half a dozen over the course of the season.....no excuses (why should I?) except other demands on my time & money. The point I am trying to make (probably badly..) is that by suggesting that me (and others like me) are somehow less welcome to support CCFC than those who are not 'plastics' (who decides?????), then, effectively a clique is created......and in my experience clique's are generally not good. Just my opinion.

No problem from my corner, anyone is welcome to support CCFC, and we all do it in our own way, there are only a lucky few who can attend every game, the rest of us go whenever we can. this is obviously going to vary because of geography, finances , family commitments, and a host of other things. Life is like that, to me a plastic fan is one who could go, but doesn't because he or she doesn't fancy the opposition and has something better to do..........then again that is their choice, who can say they are wrong?

You and many like you may only be able to get to 5 or 6 games a season...............the thing is I bet you'd get to those 5 or 6 games even if we were in league 3, if one of the few games you could get to was for instance Plymouth at home on a wet, cold Wednesday night......well you'd be there, don't make you plastic IMO, we all love our club and thats what matters, and no one has the right to judge anyone else..............I didn't go to the Barnsley game, I chose to go to my grandsons 1st birthday party in London instead, I COULD have gone to the Barnsley game........but I didn't, if people want to call me a "plastic" fan so be it. I'm confident of my love for and dedication to CCFC.............it may not be as fervent as other peoples, but when we are in the CCS, we are all equal and want the same thing. It is hard to define a "fairweather" fan, we all have our own idea of what a "fairweather plastic" fan is..........but until you are living their life, you are not qualified to judge them............a good mate of mine has had a premier club season ticket ever since the club has been in existence..........he has been to the FA Cup semi final, the FA Cup final and the play off final and about 10 games in three years..............his excuse he lives in Sydney.............plastic I don't think so.

What category does us expats fall into? We're out of the country and have difficulty getting to games but try when we are home.

the full title of a fan is a fanatic. You can be fanatical without being able to attend games. I think more of some the guys on here that can't attend games than some I know who attend Liverpool / Man U / Man City hih profile games almost as a bragging statement.

I rarely get to a game and see most of those away (I admit to not having been to CCS yet), however, I'm currently sat listining to the radio, I read just about everything I can on 't'interweb' and whitter on about the team on here more often that I should. I could name most of the squad, their positions, where they came from, how long they have been with us and what we paid, etc, etc.

Some of the real plastics I work with know less about 'their' team than I know about their team.

I don't get the chance to SUPPORT the team, but I certainly am a FAN.

Just got in, fair result Burnley posed very few problems, Mason was unlucky early on, hit the post.

We could, maybe should have wrapped it up by half time but I’ll settle for any win.

Just over 11,000 there considering the weather pretty good.

Tidy result tonight. We looked solid at the back with the Gezza/Hudson combo and McPhail offering protection in front.Workman like performance from the boys throughout.Clean sheet was a bonus.

No real threat from the opposition the only thing that impressed me Burnley related was the big flag.

Good performances all round. Don't we keep the ball so much better with McPhail playing? Its like having a new player. With 5 in midfield he always has options and we don't see him twirling on a sixpence and passing back and sideways as in previous years.

Mason gets stronger and better with every game. Although the ref had blown for offside or something, see the way he hit the volley past their keeper second half? He is now getting some confidence and could be an absolute gem of a buy if his improvement continues.

Everyone played well tonight. Pity Gezza was booked now suspended for Leeds.

Crowd looked far bigger than 11,601.

Heaton really impressed me tonight.

Just got back. Cold and wet but well worth it. Thought Burnley huffed and puffed but didn't offer a great deal. Good to see Mason score again. Great finish even though he says he scuffed it. Scuff a few more like that and we'll all be happy. Overall a relatively comfortable win.

On the thread topic. So far the CC has been great value for money (Leicester is a prime example). Everyone has their own views on it but whether you attend or not doesn't make you any less a Bluebird. Same applies for league games. IF we got to Wembley, we'd probably get the 35-40,000 going. Doesn't bother me. The more the merrier <ok>
When I go to CCS (not every game) I usually go with my boy but tonight he wanted to go with his 2 mates (both students) who took advantage of the cheaper prices. Fair enough imo.
I also decided to take advantage and took my Nephew (12yrs) for a quid. First AND last time I'm going in the Family Stand...too many kids <laugh>

Supporter V Plastic

Supporter
A person who follows the same team from cradle to grave, sometimes in person, sometimes though newspapers, radio or TV. Where ever you are it’s still your team.

Plastic
A person who follows success, never seen the team but think he/she knows all about it.

I’m a Cardiff City supporter and a bit of a Spurs plastic (though I’ve been to the Lane a few times)

I have to admit. Personally i have supported Cardiff through Thick and Thin, and over the many years its been mostly Thin, however i have no second team, i have no interest in any other club team and should Cardiff cease to exist then i still would not support anyone else, i could not even contemplate having a Second team, whats that all about ? Perhaps its me but i just dont get it, the real bugbear i have is with local people supporting premiership teams and then slag England off at International level, no matter what your arguement that is hypocritical to the hilt, i have always shouted for whatever UK team gets to a major final and will continue to do so, this Cancer of slagging each other off nationally is quite a new phenomona (sorry for the spelling) but it is these very plastic Welsh Premier club supporter who are the worst for it, Go to North Wales they all support Man U, Everton, Liverpool anything apart from a welsh club. Anyway i'm off to the medicine cupboard now

Agreed on Heaton.
I've been really impressed with Mason's movement, it's top class. He needs to stop chasing so many lost causes though. He's wasting energy chasing the ball when the man in possession has obvious options. I'm all for a high energy pressing game, just need to be a little smarter with when to apply it though.

IMO Mcphail has made a massive difference to our play. His control in the middle of the park last 2 games has imo been the major contributing factor to the way we've retained possession and therefore controlled the match.

It will be interesting to see in we can retain that composure and control away at Leeds.

Thought I'd posted this once. Getting very forgetful in my dotage.

Noticable that the Beast didn't feature even though he's back off loan. Does that suggest no future with the Bluebirds?

Gerrard back and a clean sheet. Poor opposition in attack or did he make a difference. Commentators on the radio suggested he was a yard off the pace, but you can't do more than keep a clean sheet.

Is MM's midfield 5 working in McPhail's favour? Did DJ's 442 not suit him? With more air cover and starting a bit deeper he doesn't seem to play back as much (not much further back to go). With willing runners ahead of him he could pull the strings. As Bridgend says, like having a new player.

Sorry if you've already read this somewhere else......

...... nurse, nurse, is it my bath time yet?

...ronnymoore ....I saw hime score as well.......

I always tell people I've followed Cardiff through thin and thinner, as we never had any thick.

Saying that, a couple trips to Wemberly is at least medium sliced.

I find it strange how some people pick their clubs. For me, it was always the closest team. Pontypridd for the rugby, Cardiff for the football and Glamorgan for the cricket.

With the demise of the Celtic Warriers I've struggled to pick a Welsh rugby region. The long history of Ponty and Cardiff make supporting the Blues a bit of an ask. Quite like the way the Dragons are going about their business as the poor relations of Welsh rugby. We all like an underdog.

As I've moved about the country I've had a passing interest in the 'locals', so kept an eye out for Bristol Rugby results (never bothered with their footy teams) and now Northwich Victoria (remember them?) and Sale. Never an ardent fan of any of them, just a watching brief.

We'll take all the fans we can get down at the Dragons!!

Going off topic but I've always felt like Ponty got shafted in the regional shake up. They had as loyal and dedicated support as anyone in Wales at the time.

I can understand your point of view, and Cardiff are very much my 1st team, however I have more than a passing interest in Man City, and it's not a jumping on the mega rich bandwagon thing, I followed them when they were in the old third division, it goes back to when I lived in Manchester, it wasn't always possible to get to Ninian Park, so I had to get my footie fix locally, I tried Old Trafford, not for me, the "prawn sandwich" brigade had a foothold even then, and the majority of their fans, or at least the ones I met were arrogant. I went to Maine Rd, and it was like being back at Ninian Park, the fans were down to earth and friendly, and like Cardiff fans they turned up week after week more in hope than expectation, so yes I do have a "second team"..........but should Cardiff play Man City in the cup, or hopefully soon in the league, well it would be Cardiff every time <ok>
