Not looking for mandatory suggestions for new players, I'm referring specifically to who we already have and if you think they will definitely be in our first team/subs going forward. First team - ASM------------?????--------------???? -----????-----Bruno-------????---- ????--Burn---????----Trippier ----------------?????--------------- Subs - Dubz? Wilson Wood Willock Joelinton Schar Fernandez Manq Fraser I think our first team will look massively different. - I don't see us having both Joelinton and Willock in our first team. - Wood is back up at most - Wilson can't be relied up as 1st choice due to injuries.
I'm not sure Burn will be in the team. I think it'll be Botman and Carlos with Schar (if he signs) and Burn as the back up. I think Eddie will sell Lascelles in the summer when you'll still get decent money for him.
Really? You think Schar is better than Burn? If Burn keeps performing like this I'd have him vice captain easily.
I think they have designs on Botman and Carlos. They went hard at that situation in the window. Both wanted to join, but their clubs weren't playing. If we stay up they will have to come to the table in the summer or those two will force moves. There are other clubs in the mix but the money on offer here and the project that is building, I honestly think we will get them. If Schar signs, I think he will be back up along with Burn. Both are late 20's with plenty PL experience so any problems Carlo and Botman have, we have ready made guys to step in. I think we have to ready ourselves for some high quality purchases in the summer, and the players need to ready themselves for serious competition.
Interesting. But not sure I'd be happy us relying on a foreign CB pairing next season. I'd want a PL proven one in there as well personally. I'd personally go for Tarkowski and Carlos. It's a big risk putting aside the PL proven aspect of thing. I think the big reason our defence has look mostly solid recently is because our defensive signings are all proven in the PL. Burn, Trippier and Target have all slotted in as if they've been here for years, all because of their PL experience most likely
I think the national press needs to ready themselves too. The transfer 'news' and daily gossip is still filled with Man U, Man City, Chelsea, Liverpool, Spuds, Arsenal and even West Ham. i don't think they've quite yet realised they will neeed to completely restructure their transfer reporting into 2 completely separate features in the future: 1. The "NUFC transfer news centre", plus 2. "In Today's other news..." column
We can forget M'bappe - The mackems are currently discussing if Donald can round up the 3.4m it would take to match his shareholding for their £10m offer that they are preparing
I'd honestly keep Joelinton in the 1st team. He is getting better and better every game atm and tbh I can't think of a CM we've had since Tiote who wins as many tackles and interceptions as he has in the last few games and he's only played there for 7 or so games. Add to that the Brazilian link with Bruno and I think they could make a deadly double pivot for the team and allow us to play with a more attack minded player in a CAM position. It's hard to imagine who we could bring into the team, especially if we go on a little run and finish in a decent position. Despite the money, finishing 16th/17th would look a lot worse than 12-14th on paper and if we can show the progress made since the takeover, Eddie coming in and the transfer window it'll sell the vision much better to prospective players. GK - A current back up for a bigger team to compete with Dubz in the Arrizabalaga, Henderson, Leno mould. Someone who's already playing in the league. CB - Think it will be Carlos (more likely) OR Botman (less likely) coming in with Burn, Schar, Lascelles sticking around. A few quality options on the end of contract list as well if Eddie decides to have a larger overhaul. CAM/CM, RW and CF could be exciting signings. Some great names up on their contracts come the end of the season and with no transfer fee's involved like Kamara, Lingaard, Belotti, Dembele etc. Could see David Brooks coming in as well as Eddie knows him from Bournemouth or something out of the blue like Christian Eriksen if he gets a few decent games in for Brentford. Ending up with a 25 man squad like: GK: Dubravka, Henderson, Woodman RB: Trippier, Manquillo CB: Carlos, Burn, Schar, Lascelles LB: Targett, Dummett CM: Joelinton, Bruno, Willock, Kamara, S.Longstaff, M.Longstaff RW: Lingaard, Fraser, Brook LW: ASM, Miggy CF: Belotti, Wilson, Wood
I'd be disappointed if we couldn't do better than Joelinton really. He's a grafter and good player to have the squad but his arse falls out in the final third. Willock has also been brilliant as well. Both Willock and Joelinton offer similar stuff.
If we do stay up then I think/hope the 25 man squad will look a lot better than that. I can't see squad places for the likes of the Longstaffs, Dummett or Miggy if the club gets the chequebook out.
Nah, this is wrong. His arse falls out the second he hits the 18 yard box. every other blade of grass he's ****ing mint in.
I definitely hope Willock and Joe are in the squad. If you look back at the season we finished 5th, we did it because of great first team players and also a good set of squad players as well. Willock and Joe I see either one getting regular apps, but I don't want to just settle for either. There needs to be competition.
I can see Willock and Shelvey making way longer term. I honestly wouldn't be at all surprised to see a midfield trio of Bruno, Joe and Paquetta next year.
As Magdad mentioned - 4 Homegrown players for the CL season after next? Woodman (3rd choice keeper), Dummy (4th FB and 5th CB), S&M Longstaff (5&6th CMs) Also as much as we'd all love to scrap the entire squad and write a fantasy list it isn't going to happen in the next window alone. I'd suggest we will get 6-8 players in the summer. Quality player who'll push the dead wood out and the likes of Miggy out the door but we won't have a new starting XI. I also haven't included Mbappe, Foden and Haaland as the front three because that'll be in the January window
Could see the summer window going along the lines of Henderson - Free Tarkowski - Free Dembele - Free Origi - Free Lingard - Free Paquetta - £40M Moussa Dembele - £25-£30m Matt Targett - £15m Nice little Brazilian trio in midfield, French trio up front and British Back line.
