Be very interesting to see which players out of contract have it extended. Would give Smallwood, Elder and Ingram a contract out of them.
I ****ing hope so the current left hand side is what dreams are made of as a football fan. 3 homegrown lads all playing out their skin every game. Want them all tying down long term.
Given the conditions he's had to work in at City, McCann enhanced his overall reputation from when he came in. The players were in open revolt against Ehab's cost cutting at the time and weren't going to put themselves on the line when they knew their time at the club was up. I've never seen a City manager turn it around and bring youth to championship standard the way he did. He was stubborn, arrogant and ****e in the media, but he did well for city with the hand he got dealt and being at City has enhanced his career.
Me too. I hope Honeyman is tied down out of them all, the other 3 i named would be decent squad players.
The midfielder thing I think is a real conundrum. Our usual midfield obviously lacks quality on the ball. Weirdly, we have a few very good passers that we've signed in the last year in Huddlestone, Moncur, Walsh (apparently) and even Cannon who I thought looked good on the ball when he played in the autumn. None of them play very much at all, because they don't give us the energy that Honeyman, Smallwood, Docherty and now Slater do, and that energy in winning the ball back is a big part of our game. Whenever we bring one of those guys in, it seems to go badly and they end up getting quickly taken out again with the more energetic midfielders restored. But that still leaves us with the glaring lack of quality on the ball. Presumably Walsh was signed with a view to giving us an option with the best of both, but he's disappeared after one disappointing half. It makes me wonder how we actually improve this team. I guess the answer is by buying a seriously good quality player who can do it all by paying really decent money in the summer.
That Forss shot across the face was a carbon copy of the one in the previous game. Again, he needed to switch it to his weaker foot and trust it, which would give the curl in towards the goal rather than away from it. On both occasions, he was never going to score with his right peg from that angle. Longman needs to give him some lessons.
Longman has that ability to make something out of nothing. Nearly curled one into the top corner from the edge of the area after being pretty anonymous all game. It’s something that can’t be coached in my opinion just want him to be more effective all game.
Bit worried about Allahyar’s absence now. He’s come in and had about 30 minutes off the bench and now QPR will be the third game he’s missed without much in the way of details about his injury.
Both him and Baxter.... Refreshing to hear a manager inviting criticism... BBC Humberside Sport (@HumbersideSport) Tweeted: LISTEN: Shota Arveladze speaks to @bbcburnsy following #hcafc’s 0-0 draw at Sheffield United. https://t.co/v3PhyrQCpP
You'd need to offer significantly more money for him to sign on for another 3 years Suspect the same with Honeyman.
And I'd hope we give it to them. Never understand clubs that are happy to shell out a transfer fee + wages to bring players in when they could re-sign players already at the club for similar or less money. We went through years of penny pinching on contracts only to then bring in players who surely would have ended up costing us similar to what the player at the club was after.
