Thought I saw somewhere else was talks about him staying another year. May have even had quotes from Klopp talking about him. Can only think it’s with a view to go into coaching etc. on the pitch he just looks massively off the pace atm, which isn’t s huge surprise especially as he comes off the bench a lot and it’s hard to get into the speed of the game there. Depends what he wants. If he wants to go play another season before retiring best see here. If he’s happy being bit part with view to go into back room coaching then fine by me. Klopp obviously values him and his influence around the place
its down to klopps comments about milner playing on that were published after the press conference. Its a natural leap to conclusion to get a story out there by this gobshite. however milner is a LB/RB/CB/No6/LCM/RCM/LW/RW and a great leader in klopps squad so just like paul scholes hung round like a bad smell for utd milner will likely hang round our squad keeping the troops in line. I would be nicer if someone else stood up and kept the troops in line who was a few years younger mind. you want people who demand perfection who are 28 not 36.
To be fair I think Hendo and vvd are very much that anyway. Those 3 plus Robbo who is captain is Scotland, have a very god senior leadership team there.
I think henderson is but he's also aging. VVD is just a god amongst men but that doesn't mean he is scaring kids to shut the **** up and listen etc etc. he might be too laid back. Fabinho is similar. I'm sure he is totally a pro but he's also very quiet. This is the sergeant role. the guy that does the code red. please log in to view this image Klopp is like Jack Nickelson in a few good men. top of the file. Linders is the nice lads you can talk to but he'll order the code red. every squad needs a Gunnery Sergeant Hartman to keep the egos in check.
No problem with giving him another year, important when fielding youngsters for early cup games to have that sort of experience in there. Ok it’s clear that he is a yard or 2 off it now, but it’s not like we’re relying on him. He does a job when called upon.
I Dno, watching vvd he gets very animated on the pitch. Numerous times he’s trying to push players away or into certain positions to get the ball etc. think he demands very high standards and is very willing to make himself known if something isn’t right.
Player coach role on reduced wage as absolute backup if required. You never know what injury crisis we could have. We do need another midfielder though as per last couple seasons.
Simple answer. Of course we can afford boring james milner. We are loaded. Someone has to play with the u18s in the league cup when we are at the world club cup next December
A lot of clubs are putting old journeymen I to u23s as player coach. I can imagine milner kicking lumps out of kids in prem 2.
