Yes, certainly a very fair vote. Invade then put it to a vote. Anyone in their right mind wouldn’t vote against in case of repercussions. I just wouldn’t have voted probably like many people.

Yikes. Freezing assets without a court order for those 'linked' - sounds an extremely slippery slope that.

Exactly. When I was sixteen, I would get my 'cash' in a brown envelope, where the notes would poke out the fold of the envelope, so you could count them, and there was holes in the back, so you could count any coinage.

They started out by offering people incentives to have their wages directly paid into your bank account, then over time, that changed and it became you had to have your money paid into a bank. That's where the digital transition began for me.

Move quite a few decades on, then toll booths such as the Dartford Crossing became auto tolls (cashless), so they now have my registration and movements time stamped.

Then covid strikes, and football clubs like mine moved to cashless, can't even buy a matchday programme with coinage, no more the days of turning up to the turnstile and paying in cash. Again, every visit time stamped.

Big supermarkets took the opportunity during covid to refuse cash, in case it spread the virus on, yet it was ok to accept your mail and parcels at the door. Even your weekly shop became time stamped, but even that was long before covid, due to your reward card.

In between all that came the mobile phone, I need say no more.

People say if you have nothing to hide blah blah blah. Yet imagine how easy that makes life to control for dictators, hence your article.

I gave you the links of what he could have done differently.

What's irrational to me is a so called peace keeping nation 'America', having a dithering old man running a super power and allowing millions of people to starve, people including young children who have to sell their organs as some crazy form of survival.

Yet in the blink of an eye, that same dithering old man wants to ensure the Ukraine keep their independence as a country that is around the same size population as Afghanistan.

I don't see challenging the decisions of world leaders irrational, especially when they want to front up Putin, yet ignore human rights abuses in China, and desert the now humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan.

But if you want to give him a pat on the back feel free to do so.

I don't know the name of all the characters, but that would defo be the not606 home front. They had a young lad in it as well, who would easily pass as Sucky. <whistle>

Good correction - I saw on twitter the Russians are claiming they won against the propaganda war of the West.

I see it more as after Iraq, I would like to think that people such as ourselves have learned from our mistakes, not to believe everything our governments and media tell us. Thus don't instantly support them, just because they are 'on your side.'

    Geopolitical tactics I'm afraid.

The US wants nothing to do with Afghanistan after a 20 year war there. There is zero appetite in the US electorate to send more troops there and start another war with the Taliban. That country is ****ed atm and the ensuing humanitarian crisis will be left to what little aid agencies are left on the ground to try and deal with it.

The west will pipe up occasionally about human rights abuses in China, but China are far too big a player and far too entwined in our western supply chain consumption to really upset them. The only thing that might get the west involved in a conflict with China is if they invaded Tiawan, which they see as part of China and the west fears could be used by the chinese to exert military influence in the south Pacific.

Ukraine is right on the door step of Europe and NATO, which is why Russia wants to control or limit its powers and why the West is so keen that Russia doesn't. The US is a key part of NATO so Biden can't really ignore the Ukraine situation as it would put the whole of NATO alliance at risk.

We've always got excuses, why we can't deal with the other problems.

Europe/UK and America must import millions, no billions, no it must be trillions from China, so we do have leverage beyond conflict with them.

Afghanistan, could have been handled differently, but the people there don't matter to Europe/UK/America, you can help anyone if you really want to, as Ukraine has proven.

Most of the Europe/UK/America has seen the rights of it citizens eroded anyway, verging on authoritarian, see Bobby's link as just one mere example, are we really any different to the Russians. We can't even control our own stabby people, but we've got money to deal with Putin, strange world.
