It's almost the point of clickbait - clearly these Podcast lot don't get much out of the club anymore and they certainly don't have the close relationship they had with Donald/Methven so I wonder if it's just some **** stirring going on as a result? Saying controversial things so mugs like me mention them on social media and they get more listeners?
I think our recruitment has been a marked improvement this year. Instead of hoovering up anyone on a free that we did in the Donald era, we are paying significant sums (at L1 level) for youngsters who have been schooled at PL academies as well as some shrewd loan to buy deals from abroad. What I don't support is selling the likes of Hume, Flanagan & O'Brien without securing replacements first.
Its quite simple. If there's nothing dodgy about our ownership let's just have some honesty and all will be fine.......unless of course there is something dodgy......
I think the nature of the transfer window, the way it is currently organised, means that there's always a little bit of brinkmanship involved. Especially as the window closes you have to take the risk of leaving yourself short if you want, or need, to get outgoing deals done.
Yeah. it's not easy but having sold Hume a few days earlier they could and should have gambled on ending up stuck with Flanagan rather than letting him go and not signing a replacement. We are a couple of injuries away from playing Gooch and O'Nien in defence again
Yes,and I think it shows a degree of honesty towards the players. AoB and Flanagan were never going to be offered another contract here....the club had told them well before the window that if they wanted to go and secure a better deal for themselves somewhere else, the club would accommodate it.
At times this club is far too accommodating. We've weakened our defence. Hume was on a 2 year deal wasn't he? No immediate need to sell IMHO
Denver's contract renewal was subject to much delay last summer iirc,it could easily be that a similar discussion was had with him as with AoB and Flanno. Football is a very close knit community, word goes around clubs and players like wildfire. It could very well be better for us in the longer term if we're known as a club of integrity which tries to look after its' players, rather than one which goes back on its' word.
The way some of these "adults" go on via podcasts and youtube etc is quite frankly ****ing embarrassing. Stirring up knackers into a frenzy for clicks etc is a kernts trick imo.
How naive though to not be saying to them "you can go, just as soon as we have replaced you" be upfront and honest and then we dont look like mugs letting them go without replacements. Surely thats a no brainer?
By all accounts with some people, Hume should never put on a sunderland shirt again as he is that crap, but once he is sold they kick up a stink. Can’t win wither way with some people haha. Me personally, I think it was a good move for him, but should have had a replacement in before we let him go.
Yep this clearly didnt quite land. It’s clear they only want the right players at the club not to fill up the scmp quota with dross. It didn’t quite land this time. We were after the Northampton left back and Fulham centre back by all accounts and it obviously didn’t happen. Only a what if, but what if they have the same players or others better agreed for this summer? The gamble may have felt worthwhile with 09 and Wright back on the training field, Xhemajli as back up and Higgins a month away. I’d probably take that risk myself. Not hating on Defoe but I think him for O Brien was the biggest error simply as he’s old and not fit and we needed a 90 minute option for Stewart. The second striker role we had options, not the first, and we still don’t really other than a back to goal mini man finisher .
I think that's the point. In the past they did hear stuff from the club, quite a lot of people did. I heard stuff from blokes I worked with or friends and family members who knew people in the club. ALS made a point when Donald and Methven took over about how approachable they were and how Short used to pop over to see them occasionally, how much did that make them feel important and connected with the club. Now, and certainly since KLD got involved, very little leaks out, the media and the podcast/fanzine lot don't have that relationship and its put their collective noses out of joint, so the **** stirring starts either out of spite, for an agenda or just to get clicks and attention and make them feel important. But it doesn't do anything other than cause problems within our fan base and stir up animosity towards people in the club.
This reminded me of Kaboul, let him and ended up playing O'Shea. I remember at the time we let him go for family reasons, which I reckon was wants to be in London!
BENT: I GOT ON WELL WITH KEANE Darren Bent has spoken about his relationship with Roy Keane, after former Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor called the Irishman "disrespectful"... RELATIONSHIPS “I got on really well with Keano. I've heard what Gabby had to say and, to be fair, Gabby has a right to say that because he didn't have a good relationship with him. Fabian Delph did not have a good relationship with him (too)." BALLISTIC “But I remember, we played QPR away. We got beat 2-0 and Charlie Austin scored two good goals. He (Keane) came in, I'm not even exaggerating, two and a half hours later we were still in the change room and he was still going absolutely ballistic. Paul Lambert was manager at the time and didn't say anything.” PET HATES “Roy went after the Lucozade that people were drinking. The masseuse too, he said too many people were getting massages. Ron Vlaar had a calf strain and was out for six weeks. He was like ‘how can anyone have a calf strain and be out for six weeks?' He spoke about not drinking water." EVERYTHING/EVERYONE "Honestly, everything you could think of… he went at. Everyone had their heads down. If he made eye contact with you, you were getting it.”
Our top scorer Ross Stewart was substituted v Wimbledon and Neil stated he was jaded which is not surprising considering his lack of support since Broadhead was injured , he is often left totally isolated and would benefit greatly by having someone to share the load . I would think it would not be a bad option to try Dajaku up front alongside him as he does have an eye for goal and is quick and will take people on , the kind of player defenders hate to play against he could possibly be the answer until Broadhead is back from injury and might reenergise Ross Stewart .
Yep, I was only one among many on here, who said we needed a Broadhead replacement ASAP when he was injured... it hasn't happened! Failure in the last window imho...
