In the good old days they would shoot you for refusing to fight, now they just lock you up and forget you
It's not getting to that stage. Russia will just take Eastern Ukraine and the sanctions they're hit with to save face. The only way this goes to world war is if Russia decide to keep advancing west once they've taken Ukraine. That ain't happening in a million years. You'll be expected to serve your country if it does come to that. If the army don't line you up against a wall and shoot you then some random member of the public probably will
Only time I'm picking a gun up at my age is if my homeland is at threat, and that aint ever happening in my lifetime.
Bit of military service wouldn't hurt a few of our knife carriers, we could at least teach them how to use it properly.

interesting @Blue Potato i believe the crimeans voted to join russia so was that really a russian invasion lastly, according to this super long winded article (no idea if this is really redacted docs) that i lifted from someone else, Natos military wouldn't be spreading eastwards. https://nsarchive.gwu.edu/briefing-...on-what-gorbachev-heard-western-leaders-early Not that i don't think Putin minds a bit of land grabbing (not very nice of him)
In other world news trudeau is smashing any form or protest. Apparantly one of the most liberal countries is actually fairly authoritarian https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-60383385 @brb was right to distrust a cashless society. Imagine that happens here
