Ref watch on the Maguire challenge, the original foul was a coming together the stronger man won, they chose to ignore the "stamp" altogether.

Something that Ralph said in one of his interviews, was playing KWP in the 10 role.
Strong possibility that he might be used in the position again as Ralph really rates his speed of thought and his ability to run the ball and make good decisions.

I disagree with it being just as painful. A proper stamp would hurt a lot more and could cause serious damage as you put your full weight behind a stamp, which Maguire clearly didn't do. Whether he could have avoided stepping on Broja is another matter.

 

As I mentioned previously, if you look at Maguire, he is watching the ball and not the man. Totally an accident IMO, though the fact that he didn't try to apologise made him look guilty.

Well now, say you were trying not to stand on someone on the ground near you and say you accidentally did stand on them, then (and this bit is crucial) would you say you would notice that what was under your foot might feel like it wasn't the pitch and wouldn't you maybe look down to see what it was and when you saw it was their leg, wouldn't you look, say, surprised or even shocked and wouldn't you immediately check they were ok and maybe apologise

Whereas, if you did it in on purpose wouldn't you make a point of not looking down and walking away like nothing had happened

All a bit incidental now but no question; Maguire is a thug, Bruno is a cry baby, MU are generally just poor & Saints got the moral victory by a mile. 4x bookings to zero & probably should have been 6-1 if the ref had been a bit more picky. UTFS. Roll on Everton.

 

In a perverse way, that might work in our favour. If Chelsea really rate Broja they certainly won’t want to sell to a near league rival (I hear Arsenal are sniffing now) but may think he’ll gain by honing his game with us for another year.
