We are playing well but people should remember we have won 6/24 games and drawn almost half.

Being optimistic that would make 9 points a big achievement.

Well Everton and Norwich have new manager bounce and Villa and Leeds are getting worse. Watford might yet get a little bounce and Burnley always seem to manage to pull something out of the bag.

The odds say that 3 wins 2 draws and a loss over 6 games is very very good and that’s 11 points and that’s 40pts from 30 games, but predicting Saints is notoriously difficult

To manage my own expectations - 9pts

    Everton (H) D
    Norwich (H) W
    Villa (A) L
    Watford (H) W
    Burnley (A) D
    Leeds (A) D

Joint second in the PL.for drawn matches. After the next run we could even top.this particular table. And get a two.or three wins to.propel the club towards 50 points by the end of the season!

We shall see how much of a bounce Everton will continue to get when they take on Manchester City. Watford will start bouncing in the Championship.

Hopefully after this run of games, we will be safe from relegation.

Anything over that is a huge bonus considering where we were at the start of the season. Ralph has done an incredible job.

Things were not that bad at the start as games were drawn whereas in previous seasons they had been defeats. Agree with your pov regarding RH.

I had a look back to try and pinpoint / remember where the malaise was this season

No win until game week 8 was part of it but the fixtures were generally very unfavourable. We should have done better at Newcastle and got hit with a smash and grab against wolves at home - but other than that it wasn’t too below par. A seasonal comparison of similar fixtures helped with sanity there

The real point was early December when we contrived to lose to Norwich, threw away a win against Brighton late on and got comprehensively beaten by Arsenal and Liverpool. With seemingly no real fight in the former despite arsenal not being what they once were. With chances created we should have beaten Norwich and Brighton and maybe even Leicester for at least 5 more points than we got

Some more positive results over Christmas and then the takeover announcement and things have been a lot more positive

It depends on how unlucky we get with injuries/suspensions, if Ralph can pick roughly the same team as the last two games then we could go through these matches unbeaten (sorry Dave!) we are certainly capable of getting 12+ points.

10 points - 2 wins versus Norwich and Watford, and 4 draws.

Has anyone kept a record of the longest run for Matchday threads from one person (so, wins and/or draws?) How many (more) will Dave need to do to take this particular crown?

I think Fats did 6 in a row once, and Laces may have matched that or come close.

    Any other claimants?

I had a decent run during Project Restart I seem to recall. I think Vin had a good run as well at some point.

Anything less than 9 would be big disappointment. Anything above my prediction of 14 would be outstanding and start us talking about Europe. Which begs an interesting question. Which is our best shot at a European tour? FA Cup or league??

Just looked at my history, I did 8 in a row during Project Restart until the first game of the 20/21 season when we lost to Palace.

FA cup. Given the games in hand and current point situation I’d expect 10th is the absolute best we could hope for. I just don’t see us catching Brighton and Wolves - it really would require 14+ from the next 6 which I just don’t see

And I don’t expect Villa and Leicester to continue playing as poorly as they are. Being as high as 10th might come down to beating Villa at their place

We can absolutely catch Brighton - they're not that far ahead of us and they have to play us, Villa and Wolves as well as the majority of the teams above them. Wolves are probably too far ahead of us though.

Not related to this particular debate but I did find those two defeats to Wolves particularly frustrating.
