Don’t give a fcuk about his hair, just a pity he can’t even PLAY football It’s reached the stage where I question If he has some kind of hold over the club He cost us 2.5 million with add insult So we can afford to lose 2.5 million just to get rid If he came on against MU next week and scored a hat trick I would still think he’s a waste of space
The argument for Roberts lack of goals is it's the "other stuff" he does. I'd maybe understand him starting a game or coming on to protect a lead but to bring him on for Raphinha when we are 2-0 down is comical. Roberts - 3% conversion rate from 31 shots this season with one goal and one assist that's a goal every 1106 minutes It doesn't matter how bad Raphinha was playing, he is far more likely to score or create a goal Bielsa said it was my fault as I played Klich in a defensive midfield role. How long has Bielsa been the coach, he didn't know the guy on the bench Forshaw is a better option than Klich? No Bielsa has this idiotic belief that players shouldn't come straight back into a team if they have been out, if we'd started with Forshaw, had James on the left and Joffy up front I bet we wouldn't have lost
Is he better in that role or about the same as he is as a footballer?.....asking for thousands of friends
As you're probably aware I'm normally one of the first to stick up for Roberts. So what's different today Jammy I hear you ask ? Well not a lot to be truthful. Tyler was absolute rubbish yesterday but he was asked to play as a no' 9 when all season he's played a deeper role. Whatever Bielsa was thinking would work it clearly didn't. Maybe he thought Rodrigo & Roberts could interchange but with only a 2 man central midfield Rodrigo just couldn't get on the ball second half, or maybe there was a tactical switch from Lampard as Rodrigo was nowhere near as effective as he had been. It was all very similar to Southampton (a) in that because we played 3 at the back we just couldn't link play through the thirds with the only options being to go back or long. It does seem that when we play that particular system if everyone is not on their 'A' game we come seriously unstuck. So no point blaming Roberts but with hindsight Gelhardt would have been the better option.
Not sure it's hindsight mate. I think most of us knew it before it happened and we knew it would. I would honestly love to sit down with Bielsa and him show me his analysis of what he thinks Roberts brings to the team.
The fact is though everyone, in an attacking sense, was worse second half so to put the blame at Roberts door is a bit harsh. If we'd created chances and he'd fluffed his lines then fair enough. Maybe I'm old school in that we win or lose as a team and then move on to the next game.
Not blaming him for the defeat, no one comes out of it with their heads held high but he's never changed a game and hasn't got it in him to raise the troops. It summed it up for me for their third goal, lost the aerial challenge and just stood and watched their player bring the ball forward with that bemused look on his face, that was the final nail for me, game was lost but no excuse for that.
Quite a few were poor yesterday. Let's see what happens over the course of the summer but for now they're all we've got
I don’t hate Roberts, he wears a Leeds shirt and I’m positive he gives it his all, I don’t believe for a minute he tries to miss the target, the tackle or the pass. He simply isn’t good enough, if it isn’t in him to be better it just isn’t. I blame the coach for picking him and asking him to fulfil a position which makes his skill set look even worse. Bielsa can kick an U23 into touch very early doors in their career as he doesn’t believe they’ll make the grade but he has this strange belief in Roberts that many have had patience with simply because it’s Bielsa but surely the day is getting nearer where Bielsa admits defeat. Someone said a while ago, if they were playing Leeds just play two up top, they’ll switch to three at the back and that makes them look disjointed.
There's a common denominator and that's when Phillips is missing. Unfortunately every player who tries to fulfill his role isn't good enough and the teams that press us in our own half severely disrupt our game plan and our patterns of play repeatedly break down. That happens whatever system we play but is magnified when we play three at the back.
Fck me. Just listen to you lot. that was me… I’m sure next time we played 3 at the back after that we were great jammy’s right… the key is how hard the opposition press. We’ve mastered the press ourselves but always struggled when the roles are reversed… even with kp playing but it’s exaggerated when he’s missing.
