I don't think it's down to teams sitting deep - all I've seen of Bonne in those situations over the last few months is being caught offside over and over again.
I seem to recall Jackson was worldclass at being caught offside a couple of seasons back...perhaps he's learnt or lost a bit of pace
Whatever and why ever, we can all agree that both Bonne, who I like as a Suffolk boy and Norwood have not been at their most effective. We must trust KM to sort and coach, or persuade Ashton to get cheque book out.
Pretty sure it’ll be the latter gaffer. His interview yesterday indicated he vaules very highly what Jackass brings to the table and used his qualities for tactical effect to benefit the team. I don’t see this as chopping and changing, it’s pragmatism with what he’s got at his disposal and what he needs to achieve game to game. I imagine is not his ideal squad. I doubt we’ll start next season with any of Jackass, no good, Bonne or Piggot. If he keeps one I bet it’s Jackson.
He said the same about Norwood. Wonder if we'll end up with a Jackson Norwood partnership which was pretty successful at the start of the 19/20 season, until Norwood got injured, they played game after game together and built up a decent partnership although part of that was through lacking other options I think it shows that having consistent partnerships across the pitch help
Quite; he’s using the skills they each have game to game to best effect as far as I can see and acknowledging that in his tactical summary after the games. He clearly hasn’t found much useful for Piggot to do! Im sure he’s like forwards with different qualities if he’s going to set about building a team capable of promotion. What those are is above my pay grade but I’m sure they’re working on it now behind the scenes.
I agree we definitely have a nice balance of forwards who I feel are certainly good enough for this division but I don't think it's right to chop and change the line up soo much, are we saying all 4 of our strikers are out of form, so we keep chopping and changing? Norwood scored 4 goals and then was out of the team after 1 poor performance. If you play Bonne and Norwood together and consistently create chances for them no question they will score 20 goals a season each at this level. Maybe I'm wrong and am over estimating our quality upfront but whatever the quality I don't think the constant chopping and changing is doing their form any favours
We were worthy of a win yesterday but for the same old problem, we dont score enough goals, apart from the first 15 minutes from the start and 10 minutes from the end we dominated the game but never looked like scoring, we dont take enough shots from outside the box and our free kicks and corners are not good, Bonne looks nothing like the player he was at the start of the season and Jackson was his usual inneffective self. We are playing well and Morsey ran the midfield but toothless upfront, if we want to get out of this division we have to get a proven consistent striker to get the goals to back up the great defence we have developed.
Yep and he’s had chances and not performed. McKenna will ultimately make the choice of whether he thinks there’s any hope left for a player.
