I can't argue with the main points made, the emphasis for too long has been on income generation at the expense of investment in the game.
Absolutely not - on one occasion I was on hands-free speaking to him in the car park of the David Lloyd Club in Llandarcy: my wife was shaking her head, she couldn’t believe his unhelpful attitude ….. “Bob from Geog” knew exactly what he was doing in appointing SP to the top job …..
It's a sad state of affairs. I don't pretend to have much of a clue in regards to the politics and going-ons (I rely on you Taff for these nuggets!) but it's been obvious for years that regional rugby's been declining, in stark contrast to the Irish setup. I honestly think Wales may be on for the wooden spoon this year. And the consensus is we're not at rock bottom yet. Yikes.
Dai - the IRFU basically bankrolls the Provinces. They and - more importantly - their member clubs recognise the importance of having a strong National team. That is achieved by funding the Provinces ‘handsomely’, thereby enabling them to nurture talent from their Youth Pathways into the Provincial team, as well as buying in good/first class overseas players who not only strengthen the team but are also therefore available for selection for the Provinces during International windows. The Jocks have attempted to copy the Micker. Phillips was quoted as saying that he doesn’t recognise the ‘Master - Servant’ relationship between the WRU and the Regions…. in my experience that’s laughable coming from the former WRU FD To be honest, I’m glad that I’ve been out of it for a while now
I was privileged to know Brian. Don’t think I’ve seen a stronger pound-for-pound player on a rugby pitch
So dreaded match day again I used to look forward to those For so long a "banker" for Wales, I think the Jocks will win today. Wales will have to play with discipline, no errors and penalties, to have any chance I feel. Even then our lack of cutting edge could be the difference. Hope I'm wrong. Really looking forward to the France v Ireland game, should be a cracker. I'll go with France for that one.
I’ve got a sneaky feeling we will win …. just If not, Wales v Italy for the Wooden Spoon I agree - France to beat the Micker
Scotland comfortably in front until the Wales try and Wales tackling with some ferocity, which is good to see now. Some poor decisions though, I'm not convinced by this ref. Scotland should have had two yellowed as well. Better from Wales, hopefully they can push on second half.
You are the oracle Great effort in defence from the lads, they gave 100%. It's the zero attacking creativity that worries me. I was screaming at Biggar when he took that drop goal, we had them on the ropes. Very poor.
I thought the front row did ok last week - better than I expected in fact - but were harshly targeted by Peyper. The back row looked more dynamic - on paper - this week and certainly did a job. Watkins and Tomkins are a better combination than having Adams there: I much prefer LRZ on the right, so hopefully Adans will he fit to be picked on the left wing next time out. Whatever side we pick, will do well to get anything at Twickenham
Nicola Sturgeon, William Wallace, Alex Salmond, John Logie Baird, Gordon Brown, wee Jimmy Krankie, your boys took a hell of a beating!!
Yep, everyone was carrying on like we'd won the world cup at the final whistle. Realty is we're underperforming with this management team. I agree we'll be lucky to get out of Twickenham without a good spanking.
