Wonder what Leicester fans make of Rodgers comments. tonight was not just about the result but about restoring pride. Did they really do that? 2-0 defeat could have easily been 3 or 4 but for poor finishing. 35% possession 1 shot on target
Hoddle even claimed Jota was Klopp's best signing at Liverpool... Alisson? VVD? Salah? Mane? Bobby? Robbo? Fabinho? Matip on a free?
Jones struggling at the moment could do with everyone fit and bringing him in to the right games. Elliott also struggled in a game where there was less control, goes to show that you have to bring these kids in gradually.
Jones had a fee nice moments first half. He faded though. Elliott did OK but didn't really drive anything.
Well.. maybe hoddle can only see on topic at a time in his head. Jota scored two so he's amazing. What I thought was he was quite inoffensive compared to having to listen to some of the hateful twats we have to endure on sky. Hiddle at least just wanted to goo over attackers like maddison or salah or jota or whoever did anything.
Hoddle is relatively benign and tends to fall in love with the last person he sees do something. It does make you wonder how he ever got be a manager though.
That was a pretty controlled and dominant performance (without being spectacular). The lads did their job and we secured 3 points. We definitely looked better after the subs - Bobby and Jones were the weak links for me but we had to play them in their positions which meant Jota was forced to play RW which does not suit him, and Thiago on the right where he is still ok but doesn't control the game as well. By bringing Elliott and Mo on, we brought on two better players than the ones that came off but meant we could shift Thiago and Jota into their best positions. And boy did it work and we looked far more balanced. Diaz looked comfortable and definitely suits our style - we know about his quality on the ball but I loved his work rate. A really nice PL debut. Fabinho was immense and would have been my MOTM instead of Jota. He won the ball back so many times which led to numerous attacks / shots. Alongside Thiago, we have two of the best midfielders in the world and it's arguably the best partnership in the world as well. VVD was imperious - this was the best I've seen him since he came back from injury. Hopefully he's now getting back into the groove of things ...
think everyone was just a solid 7. Agree Fabinho was very good, Jota obviously with the 2 goals and vvd was good. But everyone else just had a good game, nothing spectacular but just dominated the ball and kept pressure on when needed. Very professional performance
Fabinho was the standout performance for me. Díaz came so close to scoring a couple of times which would have capped off a nice league debut. He is remarkable on the ball and his vision, reading of the game and all round work rate bodes very well. Salah carrying on from where he left off and should have scored. If only from the penalty that wasn't given. Don't tell me Chris Kavanagh is a referee because I refuse to believe it.
Glad you mentioned Chris Kavanagh because it was a pathetic performance from him. Literally gave Leic everything every time they went down easily. But agree on Fabinho. He was immense and is absolutely crucial to our system - his positioning between the half way line and the opposition box allows us to win the ball back and sustain pressure. I really hope we're buying someone in the summer who can cover for him. Tchouameni looks like he could be that player.
