I admit I based wanting him mostly on the quality and style of football we played last time and knowing that better than the other options. There are always risks with Keane though today being one of them - my way or no way Keane. Keane also brought big club experience to add to the inexperienced board, Neil slightly less so but brings some nevertheless.
It reminded me of the Rafa infatuation if I'm being honest. The desperate need for validation by being associated and linked with a big name even if it's ultimately not substantially or ultimately what would be best for the football club. I'm in the minority but I also think there's a touch of that with the Defoe signing.
I'm totally sold, really hope this happens and there's not going to be another sting in the tail. Needs to be in the dugout weekend anarl.
I can agree with Keane but not Defoe ... ... we desperately need more strikers and he's a great role model for the young players at the club. Worth his weight in gold in my opinion.
I’m right behind Neil and so we all should be I used to take interest in some of his Preston teams so I’m happy
Me too. The more I think about it, the more I think that we dodged a bullet with Roy Keane. Having done some research, Alex Neil looks a far better proposition.
It's a one and a half year deal. I can just imagine Speakman saying to AN you're not 2nd choice but the fans wanted RK so we looked into it but he didn't fit in with our system.
All I can remember is constant balls fired in from the right wing and players running into the box with shots and headers tbh. He goes for wins, not draws, and that's exactly what we need in the current situation.
Marco was asked tonight how Neil would feel about being 'second choice', and he said he is sure he could not care less, he will be delighted to get the job Marco said obviously this sort of thing happens in football a lot, with players and managers alike He said Neil would approach the job with lots of enthusiasm and full commitment
Keane is no longer welcome at Smug Towers. I don't believe he has the balls to manage a club our size any more tbh. The new man will get a great reception at Wimbledon.
Personally I think we will do well with him. We might lose some games but he will go out all guns blazing to win every game and that is what we need now.
