What is probably our best managerial appointment since being relegated to League One has been totally overshadowed by the sheer incompetence of those running the club.
I am still of the opinion that Keane expression of interest was a surprise to the management, and hence the equivocation and hesitation.
We could be second on Saturday night mate ... ... the way some are going on we're 1 point above Crewe.
When did they change the offer put to Keane? You said he'd accepted all the terms and the lad on RTG who would know said it was all done bar the signing last night.
If he's so keen to return to management he'll soon be employed, plenty of clubs changing managers ... ... he's nowhere near good enough for the PL but he might get in at Mansfield if Clough is tempted elsewhere.
If it did fall over due to relocation and staff then the club were in the right to drop Keane .. let’s see what comes out in the next few days .. people too quick to jump on the club without details .
Just to confirm, Keane was only offered 3 month deal too? & if so the reason he turned it down? if the case, he would never have left his tv deals for a 3 month deal. Maybe they didnt see keane as the long term solution? I hope Neil hits the ground running, we need to get behind him & look forward, whats done is done....I just hope KLD has got this right
Thing is, I can understand if Keane was only offered a short term deal. Sure, he would have pleased the vast majority of fans, but he would have been a huge risk on the chance he could have gotten us promoted this season. It could have quite as easily imploded and kld would have been left paying off the rest of his contract (if it had been long term). Keane: I can get you promoted Kld: you certain ? Keane: yes Kld: alright, here is a 3 month contract with obligation to extend 18 months if you get us promoted Keane: feck that, give me 18 months now Kld: but I thought you were certain to get us promoted ? Keane: I am, but I want the security Kld: you've been out if management 10 years, we're not taking that risk, even if you please the fans just because of what you did. Prove yourself, get the longer contract Keane: feck off Kld: ok, bye I'm sure it was more complicated than that, but that's how I basically imagine it went
That I disagree with mind marra. He looked like an excited school boy about it all on the box last Friday. Could barely contain his glee at the prospect. I think he just has his principles, draws a line in the sand and is a stubborn bugger that probably cuts his nose off to spite his face pretty often.
Alex Neil is the least they could have done. If he'd walked straight in after LJ was sacked I'd have been delighted. The irksome nature of how we've been a bit of a circus yet again just leaves a bad taste. I'm just going to pretend he's Alex Rae until I love him as much
