Just told my wife that Keane’s not coming. But it would have been a gamble and he hadn’t managed for ten years. She said well we all did things ten years ago we can’t do now. Sadly I had to agree. Grant McCann. He’s our man. If he can’t do it no one can.
Yes - I was replying purely to the idea that his opinion on getting promotion out of this league should be ignored, despite him doing it more than once whilst we **** about pretending to be experts.
So it was his decision to sack LJ and not the boards? Is it his sole decision on the length of contract? Surely the board could over rule him if they think it's in the best interest of the club?? Something sounds a little dodgy to me.
I see. So he's not coming on then? Keane was always going to insist on the setup being thrown out of the window for him imho. He's never indicated that he's anything other than old school. The new fella has got no chance before he's even started, has he?
Fair enough McCann got Hull promoted. He also got them relegated. We need an 'impact manager' to win the majority of the remaining games. Its a very young squad who have lost belief and confidence, especially with senior pros like Evans and Batth not leading. I don't see anything in McCann's record or character, who can lead and re-install confidence. Yes, if he wins games and we do get promoted - then we will be happy to move up a tier, but the logic and decision-making is flawed.
If Roy Keane was called Andy Smith and had the recent (last 10 years) managerial record of Roy Keane, would our fans be so upset if he’d turned us down? Nope! Was always on the fence about him. Was warming nicely to the idea. But, in the cold light if day, Phil Parkinson has a better managerial record recently than Keane.
