Im out Despite a team including former international stars such as Gianluigi Buffon and Franco Vázquez, Maresca failed in leading Parma into the promotion spots, being eventually dismissed on 23 November 2021 with the Gialloblu only three points above the relegation playoff zone.[46]

If they name someone objectively better than keane in time for Wimbledon, fine. All good. If not. This is indeed a kick in the balls.
Well if as @Prehab26 says, that Keane has turned us down despite the terms being okay, because of Speakman - then that means Speakman has to go for me. Unless of course KLD likes Speakman and trusts him and backs him long term. If KLD has any doubts on Speakman then this is enough for me to think he needs to go. ASAP (Not quoting prehab as those posts were broken)
Same Wasn’t convinced to start with but was like a little kid last Friday. My worry now is their a plan B. The names mentioned are pretty uninspiring. But let’s see they might pull a rabbit out of the hat
Problem is that McCann or Neil or whoever know that Keane was first choice. The fans know, the players know, every ****er knows. Whoever the new man is will be starting from absolute zero with us all. This feels like another Parkinson moment
It would be with a heavy heart I would go far McCann now....He's got a rank average side out of this league before, but he has a hell of job to win over our fans
I never wanted Keane and quite frankly think the fawning over someone who nobody has wanted as manager for 11 years is baffling. Nonetheless, to take 10 days to get to this point is equally as baffling. However it's going to be practically impossible for speakman to fully explain what's happened without completely undermining whoever does get it. Mu guess has always been, keane wants to break the model with full control & the salary package is just too high.
Yep. But we don't know what has happened at all. Maybe Keane said, after all this time, that he didn't want the job. Maybe Speakman kept insisting on conditions he knew Keane would never accept, I doubt we'll ever know, though if any reports are conflicting, I'd be believing Keane who has nothing to lose or hide, over Speakman for whom the opposite is true. We'll see. But my faith in Speakman was never great, and this has been an absolutely epic **** up. As I, and no doubt others said, it's always easier to sack a manager than hire a better one. And I have very little faith at all in the bloke who is supposed to be doing that job. He is obviously completely un- prepared for this .
I’m holding off getting too annoyed at Speakman until we find out why Frankly if Keane is the one who has changed his mind last night then **** him. We are Sunderland supporters - not Keane supporters. If he doesn’t want to manage us, for whatever reason - **** him.[/QUOTE] This ^ I was happy with Keane but some were getting carried away about him. No doubt speakman will be getting the blame without anyone actually knowing the facts of what's happened
To me it sounds like Speakmann has far too much sway. A power struggle from within has basically cost us and chance of promotion. They really do need to get this appointment right or it will knock us back another 18 months.
Parma are still 13th in the table now. Despite having some big names, their generally not a great side. They've had huge financial problems over and over again. It doesn't make him a bad coach.
I’ve tried to add some balance. I don’t like Speakman. I think it’s very likely this has been caused my his incompetence. I’m saying I think he MIGHT not be entirely to blame. We don’t even have one side of this story yet, let alone both. Either way, it seems pretty clear to me from fan opinion that his position is absolutely untenable. Whether this is entirely his fault or just slightly his fault - he’s done. He has no credibility with fans, media or the industry.
