We can (and should) stick our oars in to the club. But if The Athletic is right, that Keane had two interviews, did his smirks on TV, then when offered the job took several hours to turn it down - well he has massively led the club on as well.
And frustratingly if he has decided he doesn’t want to work with the people in charge - he has been leading them on a merry dance all week.
I suppose it will be too much to expect Mr Speakman to explain this development if it is true, so let's guess at what he might have said. " Further to our announcement that we were engaged in looking for a new head coach to head up our footballing operations, we are able at this juncture, to tell our supporters that contrary to media reports Roy Keane will not be joining the group" " Following our discussions it was felt that Mr Keane would not fit seamlessly into the architecture of our ongoing model." " While this might create uncertainty among supporters, we feel that, moving forward together, and striving toward a common goal, while at the same time maintaining a diverse and engaging outlook, we can achieve together a new and exciting reality" " I’ll be back when I've had a ****e and find some more meaningless syllables to blurt out."
Whoever it'll be does deserve our support, though, as all real supporters will know. You don't have to offer yours, and it seems like you won't, but I expect that you'll be massively in the minority
Exactly. If he's strung this out, he's complicit in the turmoil that the club and the fans have been led into.
I might be in the minority here like, but could this not be a blessing. He hasn’t managed for years, I know he’d give us all a lift but on paper someone like Alex Neil would be much better in my opinion. Better coach/manger all round. Dunno if this is me trying to be positive in my head ha.
As much as I’m pissed off with the whole situation and the debacle it has become, I’ll give my full support to the lads on the pitch. Pointless getting on their backs and pointless booing the manager as it’ll filter to the players. If Keane has turned us down as reports suggest, the he can go jump too. Why not just say no last week? Why wait until today? Makes no sense to me. If it’s Warnock however, then I’m all but done with the club!
Oh aye. It'll be all Keane I'm sure. Never for one moment can we assume that it could have anything to do with a former youth coach from Birmingham prone to semi literate incontinence.
I’m offering some balance mate. Keane knew we wanted him and took 8 days to turn us down. The club should have got him wrapped up. He should have turned us down sooner. No matter what way you look at it, and no matter how desperate we are to blame Speakman (and believe me I can’t stand him), Keane has to take some of the blame here. And frankly if he doesn’t want to manage us - **** him.
So why have they suddenly changed the title of the article. Was 1st - 'Roy Keane turns down Sunderland' now its 'Roy Keane no longer under consideration to be Next Sunderland manager'
