Well, my prediction has gone, so why not. Morison needs to buck his ideas up if he's going to get the managers gig long term. What's he doing signing strikers that can score? Thats two of them at it now.
Just beg and pledge your undying love. Blame a moment's lunacy.....but thanknher from me for keeping the three points safely for us.
Very good display. The loans big help. Drameh surely will be in the Leeds starting line up next season , the return of Wintle , introduction of Isaak Davies , pace. Peterboro , oh dear. Has anyone seen a worse Championship side? Their CB Knight ive seen better Sunday League players. The snow cheats I reckon will pull off the escape. Barnsley and Pboro are going down and I think Reading may join them.
Okay, Peterborough were poor (sorry Minxy) - no shots on target I think - but our best performance for a long time. Drameh, Wintle, Doyle and Davies were outstanding. I don't know what Drameh was on but I want some. His run and cross for our third were exceptional and for Hugill to be in the right place for a near post ball was amazing as they have only had a couple of weeks to train together. When did we last score a near post goal from open play? Davies' pace and willingness to chase everything all night really put the wind up them. He was my MoM. Hugill and Collins are not dissimilar in the positions they take up and runs they make. The difference is Hugill looks like he knows what he is doing and where the ball will go. Collins doesn't have a clue and it shows. Hugill was an astute loan signing who will reap benefits for us for the rest of the season. Ipkeazu showed us what he will do for us having left defenders in heaps on 2 or 3 occasions in the short time he was on the pitch. Perhaps he doesn't have the attributes of Hugill but he brings his own style which will wind up defenders no end. The rest of the season looks much brighter, pity we won't have the funds or pull to make permanent signings of Drameh and Doyle. They look like they have very bright careers ahead of them. However, if VT has any ambition for the club then the summer signing of Hugill or Ipkeazu, or both, would be a smart move.
Id be doing everything I can to get Doyle back. He wont get a look in for Man City. Drameh will be in Leeds 1st team. Ralls contract needs sorting and quickly.
Compare the current midfield 3 to the combo of Pack, Vaulks Bacuna (which failed miserably game after game with midfield conceded from the off). Compare the wing backs now and pre January. Compare Collins to Hughill/ Ikpeazu. Morison deserves huge credit for sourcing these inspirational loan signings.
Ok, went to the game last night, after some deliberation I must admit. Thoughts of previous struggles and collapses v Posh, combined with my track record so far of two games attended, two 1-0 defeats didn't inspire me to want to go (and probably jinx the team again). Can honestly say it was one of the most refreshing games I've seen us have in a very long time. Drameh and Isaak Davies were immense all game, just a shame young Isaak didn't get a goal as he really deserved one. Hugill is everything that Moore stopped being for us. I'd be very happy if we could nab him permenantly should he continue to put in performances like that. His work rate was excellent, his calmness and composure to bring the ball under control and bring others into the game around him was very good and his movement too were all spot on more often than not last night. I'll give Posh some credit, they started the second half pretty well in terms of dominating the ball, but we prevented them from doing anything too dangerous with it. Had they managed to score one during that period things could have gotten a little nervy, but the team stood firm and the breakaway from Drameh to set up the third (which effectively killed Posh off) was just brilliant, both in terms of the execution and, importantly given the lack of control we had of the ball, the timing too. Some of our passing was very, very incisive, with players genuinely looking to use the ball effectively as often as possible. I know Posh were pretty poor but you can never take anything for granted in this division and it doesn't take a lot for a game to turn, but on this occasion we managed it very well indeed. Overall an excellent and very encouraging display.
Haven't posted till now due to dog committments. Best performance of the season from City so far, albeit against very poor opposition. To be fair, Posh were so poor we could easily have been drawn down to that level with a "McCarthy" side - last night was light years away from the early season dross. The difference is in the change of players on the pitch and all credit to Morison for reshaping this side. Not going to repeat what many have already said, but Drameh and Doyle are different class. Wingback was never NG's game and he looks far more comfortable shifting inside. I liked Giles on the left, but it's not sour grapes when I say I'm glad Bagan has another shot at LWB. With Ralls and Wintle back in there around Doyle, the midfield now works - what a difference. Up top Hugill and Uche have the grunt and holdup play that Moore never showed. The pace that Isaak Davies possesses is going to turn a few heads at other clubs as well as turning players inside out on the pitch - he could attract unwelcome interest. Other than goal kicks, pack passes and plucking the ball out of the air from poor Posh efforts to lob it in, did Smithies ever touch the ball?
Just one more thing on last night's game. I looked in on B365 and City were odds on at 5/8 to win it - can't be arsed with that. Then I looked at their enhanced "boost" offers. Amongst others, they were offering 2/1 against City winning it both HT/FT......... please log in to view this image
