Snippet from Liverpool Echo Echo Echo Echo today --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The atmosphere at St James' Park was no doubt an important factor in the hosts managing to secure all three points on Tuesday evening. After their goals in the second half especially, Newcastle had a raucous crowd behind them which created an intimidating experience for the visitors. In the first half, chants were shared back and forth between the home support and the away end. It started with Newcastle's fans chanting the name of Rafael Benitez, who still retains a lot of popularity in the city for his leadership of the club before he became Everton manager. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This should become the norm for visiting teams
Missed the game last night but been reading about it all morning, it seems fair to say that the new signings have brought competition for places and hopefully it improves the level of the rest.

Special mention for Matt Targett. He just slotted in like he’s been in the team for years. Very impressed.
He even ‘looked’ right in black and white…. kid could become a hero I reckon - and a nice lad it seems. Well done Eddie
I was too: I said the other day he was villas player of the season last year. And he is a good solid player.
I hear Alli and Joelinton had a meet in the tunnel after the game and Alli ended up on his arse. (Ref Adam Pearson & Steve Wraith blogs). Probably a bit exaggerated but amusing all the same.
