If it isn’t Keane then it has to be someone able to cope with the big club pressure. It would possibly be one of Lennon’s good points on paper. In real life I really don’t know who. I guess that’s why we need a process.
At what point does it stop becoming dramatic to say ‘I want to jack it all in.’ Others can’t even say that there’s been worse times supporting us, because this is the lowest we’ve ever been and we don’t look like rising higher.
I just wish they would hurry up cos I have some work to do. They’re close to ruining my career as well as a few players/ coaches / managers / owners.
The main thing that makes it feel worse now is that before we could all hope and wish for a takeover. There is currently no hope left. The hope has been drained, New manager today could bring some hope back. As could some sort of statement from the club. At the moment there is a communication vacuum again, which is arguably just as well because last time Speakman tried to clarify things he made them worse.
There were probably folk in the 15 point season who got to 3 games before the end who thought we would come good and there were signs of improvement. Our history cannot be ignored, we have seen this before and we will see it again. Recognising the signs early are imperative but some just can't bring themselves to look too closely as the truth hurts too much. The truth, or denying the truth, will not promote us. Realising the truth and making the changes necessary may give us half a chance.
I couldn't agree more with this.... The situation we find ourselves in has been coming since we lost Broadhead and got stuffed off Arsenal in December. Players have been running on empty. We could all see it. Lee Johnson pointed this out on numerous occasions in the run up to, and during the January transfer window. Reinforcements asked for by Johnson never really happened until too late, and weren't all his choice. Lee Johnson was sacked after letting his mouth run during a poor run of results. Jack Ross revisited. We have had to sell to buy with a Billionaire owner, and found ourselves AGAIN looking for bargain basement players. Now I totally understand moneyball, the buying development and selling of promising young talent, but we are so far away from this scenario to even think of adopting it. Our priority is to get out of league 1, well at least its the fans priority, I'm now unsure if its the priority of those running the club. If it truly is then they are doing a pretty poor job of it. Perhaps they are content with 30k+ crowds, decent merch and matchday revenue, and very little transfer outlay. NET ZERO SPEND in January a joke. This window has been a complete and total cock up, worse than when we sold Maja and bought Grigg...or appointed Parkinson. We have 7 wide players, 2 and a half fit centre halves, 2 specialist full backs and only one Centre forward.(Defoe a channel runner) An absolute shambles. Short/Bain, Donald/Methven and now KLD/Speakman. The piss take stops here? That was said 4 years ago. When will it ever stop?
Big mistake playing those games, to me and many others,it was obvious we should NOT have played them, really stupid decision
Personally, I think he's the wrong man because he doesn't fit the profile (the profile as I understand it, of course). If there is internal disagreement over appointing him, it appears that someone at least thinks the same way as me. They need to resolve that quickly but I won't criticise whoever it is for sticking to the plan. I keep coming back to his comments on ITV that "the contract needs to be right". If he's not happy with some element of that, we need to move. Let's face it, even in League 1, its not going to be peanuts and if he is that keen to return to management, it shouldn't bother him. Roy Keane is not bigger than SAFC. So if that's it, we need it resolved quickly but I won't criticise the club for not being held to ransom by him. Those seem the most plausible scenarios to me.
I'll repeat what I've said before.... The Defoe and Keane circus has driven a coach and horses through 'the plan' and destabilised everything
Starting to sound like KLDs controlling share is not a 51% share. The chancers not as inactive as we'd like perhaps.
Yep absolutely. Not blaming our fan base for one minute, we are the best thing about the club. But for some reason collectively we have gone nuts over trying to bring back former people into the club at a time that should have been about new beginnings. For Keane and Defoe, it was Poyet and Mannone in the last 16 months. Those two were avoided. The Keane situation is frankly ridiculous now. Too much of our fan base have decided he’s the only option, so much so that he can’t possibly live up to expectations himself, and if its NOT him, that person has no leg to stand on.
That’s disrespectful of older generation who have probably had a harder life than you. The present older generation may not have fought the Second World War but they dragged this country back from bankruptcy.
Fwiw I don't think the chances are having much if any input.... Problems seem to lie between impetuous youth and science
