We might be doing everything within our power to go after the right man. I haven't heard anything concrete to suggest otherwise. Just a whole lot of flapping from us, the fans, on message boards and fanzines. Until we don't go up with a good appointment at the helm I just don't think it's time to make judgements. There's a lot of season left.
KLD, and the staff he brought on board, have only been here for around about a year. It can take years to make the changes that they (and us) want see. We can't hound them out at the first hurdle. Of course mistakes have been made- we haven't added the steel to the team that we clearly need- but its not a case that everyone in the club is incompetent. Its a pity the possibility of Keane coming back has leaked out because so many people are working themselves into a frothy mess over it, its just increasing the pressure on everyone involved.
all fair points, for me they are balanced with an inability to keep a clean sheet and manage games effectively, but do agree the right person could address those. just feels miles off and a massive opportunity lost…..again
Agreed. But unfortunately that's what we do. We turn on players and managers and make their position untenable but they get the chance to turn things around. I dont know what other fanbases are like, but I'd suggest ours is quite panicky.
If the issues, tension and manoeuvring are at the level above in the ownership group then there’s no way a sporting director could do anything about it and can’t hold any blame. If anything they’ll be hamstrung by it and it’ll make their rope all the more challenging. I know our fans have created this narrative, in Johnson’s absence, that everything wrong with the world is the fault of Speakman but we’ve no idea what’s going on.
To be honest I'm not bothered. Keane just as likely to be a disaster than a no hoper surprising us all and doing well.
Keane is like a **** or bust appointment. It could be a springboard to top two. It could be a disaster. I would lean towards the latter. Any appointment is a gamble but McCann, Lennon or Neil would be a safer bet. Amazing how it’s all gone wrong so quickly though. No manager, no defence, no organisation. At least we had the Defoe sideshow for a while. Today’s the day surely?
I think he’d fire the fan base up as well as the players, though. The likes of McCann just won’t do that.
He is responsible for the whole footballing side of the club and needs to take responsibility, not excuses from posters on a messageboard
I have zero intel but with every day that passes, the likelihood of Keane coming back reduces. These delays aren't a good thing at all. Am almost convinced we will end up with McCann now
