It is the age of social media, and, I hate to say it, sites like this, that create a concentrated echo chamber.
This poor form started with us playing those games against Wycombe and Lincoln. But ya know, gotta show integrity and all that.
Some of it borders on utter hysteria. Can't believe some of the crap I'm reading. There is still a fair chance we go up this year with the right appointment and people are going mental demanding it with each day that passes. As a collective, we wanted Johnson out. He's out. Now we're living with the consequences. Sure the appointment would have been better quicker, but it doesn't always work out like that. We need more calm in the fanbase.
Bang on. We should’ve won at Wycombe too, it’s been an absolute disaster ever since we conceded that goal there at the death.
A little forced break over that period might've done us the world of good, recharge the batteries etc. Then go again.
Absolutely agree. I was looking at this on the train last night and had to stop, because some of it was massive overreaction.
genuinely interested in what you are currently seeing that suggests promotion is still seriously on. I’m normally positive about the club but right now we are rudderless in all areas of mgt and the playing staff confidence is clearly shot to pieces. also if those supposedly in charge of the club let places like this dictate/influence their decisions then they aren’t the right people to run the club. I personally think those in charge have done a lot of good things and a lot did want Johnson gone but if their plan was dodds and proctor then it has been a serious error of judgement and as well as getting praise for good things they should be called out when it goes wrong. there is some hysteria at times but I get that…..all I’m after is something to cling onto and believe in from the club, right now they aren’t providing a single thing
I think the club was damned if it did and damned if it didn't in that scenario. If we'd left ourselves with games in hand that we subsequently lost the same people would have been criticising the club and saying "should have played those games, the squad was strong enough"
Mathematically we can still go up, we also have one of the best (if not the best) squads on paper. Whether it’s a league one squad or not I don’t know. Also seriously questioning the mental strength of these players now. We need a manager in immediately to have any chance of staying the the playoffs. We’re the second worst form team in the league at the minute. Someone who at the very least is a motivational character.
Although I agree about the hysteria and the need for calm, we won’t go up automatically now. That was clearly the plan so we’ve collectively failed in that plan. We had a real chance a month ago.
I think that one win in seven, and, particularly, the very poor performances in the last three, coupled with what appears to be a lack of cohesion in the removal of Johnson and the appointment of his replacement, allows fans to raise questions over the competency of the management team, particularly as most of us were under the belief that,at long last, our direction of travel was being led by efficient people who know what they're doing. We're all desperately disappointed with where we sit at this moment.Of course,if our form picks up and we can sustain a string of wins, then,as you say,the season is not lost, but, this morning,we do appear to be rudderless, which is very worrying. Today is an important day.
Agree completely. It makes you wonder if they have the faintest idea of how to actually run a club, rather than deal in abstract notions. That is a very young and inexperienced team, almost a top class U23 set up for the most part. Fair enough, and form dips are expected, but leaving them flapping about in the dark with clueless people on the sidelines is neglect on an eye popping scale. An epic **** up, and it could be very hard to put right. I'd be surprised if Roy Keane felt okay about working with and technically under, ( imagine that!) a bloke who is looking out of his depth.
I honestly think that if the club are stuck as Keane is pushing them too far on demands just make a final offer and if no go then simply appoint someone until end of the season and get a proper longer term replacement then.
A very measured response which I agree with. To think there would not have been some hysteria after the recent run and current turmoil is not unexpected. If there was a positive note it would be if we are in the play offs at the end our form will have improved. But to say I am not concerned would be an understatement. The shock waves from that last gasp equaliser at Wycombe have been devastating
Agree. There’s so much we don’t know or will ever know about what is really going on and filling in the gaps with guesses and rumour. For a little perspective how many games was Quinn in charge for before he finally got Keane signed up? I’m not expecting a miraculous charge for automatic promotion now but if we are in the play offs by then I would hope the right work ethic and fight has been instilled in the team to give us a very good chance. Automatic is unlikely but it doesn’t matter how we go up, just that we do go up.
