He was, somebody on the transfer thread the other day was trying to convince we didn't need an experienced centre half.
Forgettable debut aside, not sure why we signed Walsh on loan in the first place instead of a right-back or centre-half. It’s an odd signing given how many midfielders we already had. Too early to judge the new signings and Shota. It’s perfectly reasonable to criticise the likes of Coyle, Ingram and Docherty as they’ve been quite underwhelming all season.
He wasn’t good against Preston. But I’m sure his Preston performance was marginally better than the Welsh performance v Derby tonight.
we've been giving goals like that away all season. A single striker getting the better of 3/4 City players all falling over themselves. Sorting that out should have been a priority in Jan.
I think there needs to be a bit of lee-way for the newcomers, given the short timescale they actually had to sign anyone.
I was bewildered by the team selection at the kick off and feared the worse. This could easily all go horribly wrong, on the back of all the hysteria of the take over. Obviously Shota is still finding his feet and it showed on Saturday and was glaringly obvious tonight, He isn't sure of his best formation and the players looked as bewildered by it as I with the team he put out tonight. The game was played at a frantic breathless pace which completely over rode our midfield, if that was the intention or the plan it didn't work. Derby looked better and more assured and the score at half time showed it. The half time talk, if anyone could understand it, obviously didn't work either because two minutes later the game was over at 3-0. Honeyman looked totally pissed off with his role, and his absence in the middle of the park possibly accounted for the displays of Docherty and Walsh. Forcc ? ( him from Brentford) looked lost too. So positives ? For the first time for a few seasons we had a full compliment of club officials in the directors box to see it all first hand. Our new manager is quickly finding out the hard way how competitive this league is and which players he can and cannot depend on. Talk of reaching the Play Offs was pure fantasy. We have all on to stop in this league this season and that should be the number one objective. The manager will be having sleepless nights too because he will not be happy with what he saw tonight.
Ingram has not been underwhelming all season to be fair to him, he was basically on course to be our player of the season over the first few months, not that there was much competition for that honour.
Fans will love Alla Decent shout. Most of us of us know we are work in progress now with a clean slate and new passionate owners who at least turn up. Once again tonight the damage caused by stagnation of the club being up for sale for years haunted us . We looked so disjointed and ordinary tonight at times it was embarrassing.. Not only did Derby want it more they simply took full advantage of the glaring lack of defensive Championship quality and depth in the squad that could never ever be corrected in one January window.
I don't think it's knee jerk either It's hysterical,pre-pubescent,pant-wetting,armchair expert bunkum!!! At least the 'crowd banner' hasn't been completed yet,we've got time to contact the printers, remove the Turkish Flag and change the 'Acun had a Dream' TO 'Acun's having a mare'.... Trust me,this could only happen at this Club.
There are positives from tonight. Allahyar seems like a hard-working and aggressive forward, despite his slender frame. He also had some decent first touches. I’m excited to see him start a game. Shota’s clearly finding his feet and trialing which way to play best suits this group of players. He made a decision to start Walsh and it didn’t pay off. Starting Coyle didn’t pay off either. I’m not all doom and gloom for Fulham.
Sometimes you do, but when you hand them the victory before kick off perhaps it's right to be a touch critical.
I'm all for being upbeat but unless something truly extraordinary happens, a bit like v Bournemouth, I don't think we've a cat in hells chance against Fulham! Come on City, prove me wrong!
Ingram isn't a championship keeper. Distribution is awful, doesn't command his area, makes a lot of errors and defence look nervous with him in goal. Having said that he has made some great saves.....but that's his job. As for derby they are in a totally false position, Rooney is working wonders with them but we didnt adapt or change anything until the game was gone.
By not playing a holding midfielder, instead playing a creative mid out of position for only his sixth game of the season, and bringing in a crocked player to be exposed on the right?
Agree his distribution is poor and Baxter is a lot better all round, but at the time Ingram was dropped many thought it was harsh as he'd had a reasonable start to the season, that's all I meant. Coyle has been pretty poor all season though, no arguments there.
Absolute bag of **** that was. Kept looking at the dugout from about 30 mins in to see how he was going to change it. Midfield absolutely non existent. Forss, ****e. I know he wasn’t given much to work with but he offered absolutely nothing for anyone to give him either and we had no presence up top. Think his first touch came around 65th minute? Eaves had a few sloppy touches when he came on but we instantly were able to get the ball out of defence. Until that point only Fleming and KLP linking up down the left we’re giving us any get up and go whatsoever, little wonder we kept getting caught out down that flank. We should get Grant McCann in quick whilst he’s still available IMO.
