Talking things sensible, , Mogg is now Brexit minister of Opportunities while Frost has been cloned and become Leader of the House. He is equally fat, ugly and thuggish looking. Seems to be a feature of Johnson's ministers to be fat and ugly.

It isn’t immediately clear what kind of move this is for JRM. Is it a demotion, sideways move or promotion? It doesn’t seem like the latter to me

I’m not sure he was saying that they believed they would be part of that coalition. More that they wanted sit down with such a (unfeasible) coalition instead of the actual government

Which of course is not how it works directly. Unless they think they can somehow orchestrate a vote in the parliament with this “pro trucker” coalition inflicting a defeat on the government ? I don’t know

The NDP is very vocally against the convoy, as is the Bloc. There is absolutely no pro-trucker coalition...there's some Conservative MPs, and that's about it.

The Good Law Project have uncovered another Johnson lie.
Johnson claimed that all companies, that have benefitted from the VIP PPE fast lane, had been named. The GLP have discovered a further 18 companies, at least.
Here’s one line from near the bottom, that should see the government kicked out, but it probably won’t even be aired in the media.

The Department of Health’s Annual Report revealed that of every £13 we spent on PPE, £10 was wasted.

    Dear Badger

Good Law Project has seen documents showing the Government misled Parliament, the National Audit Office and the High Court about the size of the illegal VIP lane it adopted, which advantaged associates of Government Ministers.

In October 2020, Good Law Project revealed the existence of the VIP lane. In November 2020, the Government informed the National Audit Office that there were 47 VIPs. In November 2021, after losing an FOI battle with Good Law Project, it published a list of 50 VIPs. However, internal Government documents leaked to Good Law Project now reveal that the true number of companies fast-tracked down the ‘VIP’ lane was far higher.

We can reveal that at least 18 other companies, who between them were directly awarded a further £984 million in PPE contracts, were also given the ‘VIP’ treatment.

The full list of additional names can be found here. These 68 VIPs were awarded a total of £4.9 billion in PPE contracts - all without competition.

    The new VIPs include:

    • Hong Kong based oil and gas firm Jason Offshore Equipment was handed a £25 million contract in June 2020. 18 months later, the DHSC still hasn’t published the contract, directly contradicting Boris Johnson’s claims in Parliament that all PPE contracts were now “on the record”.
    • PPE contracts worth £173 million were awarded to China Meheco Co. Ltd and Winner Medical, both of whom have been linked to Uighur human rights abuses in Xinjiang. Government has previously misled the public about other aspects of the deal.
    • A £96 million contract awarded to Beijing Union Glory Investment Co. Ltd - a firm that operated out of a hotel room in Beijing.
    • State controlled China National Instruments Import & Export Group landed three contracts worth £130,000,000.
The Department of Health’s Annual Report revealed that of every £13 we spent on PPE, £10 was wasted. How long must hard-working taxpayers carry the heavy burden of this Government’s waste and sleaze?

    Thanks for your support,

Jo Maugham - Good Law Project

Good Law Project approached the DHSC and Cabinet Office for comment. The 18 companies named above may not have been aware they were included on a ‘VIP’ list and no wrongdoing by the companies is alleged.

I guess the good news is that they kinda sorta want to involve the other parties in their hairbrained scheme. Their original Memorandum of Understanding involved the Senate (which is like a less-useful House of Lords in practice, not joking) and the Governor General to create a Citizens Committee (with the convoy leaders naming half the membership) that would have the power to supersede and depose the government.

Freedom is when I have power. Tyranny is when I don't.

Also worth noting that these guys don't enjoy a lot of popular support. Even among Conservatives, it's less than 50%, and polling has opposition to the convoy running 3:1 to support (and I have a feeling that, if people had a better idea of what these yahoos are actually pushing, it'd be considerably worse than that).

Rees Mogg appealing to the intellectual readership of the Sun, to help identify “petty EU rules” we can now abolish in yet another attempt by the Tories to not only distract from the ****show of a government but to help whip up a bit more anti foreigner feelings.

Might this be because there is no way near as much that fits this category as they first claimed ?

What, as in absolutely none at all?

People have clearly forgotten that because our Parliament, contrary to what was said by the Brexidiots, always remained sovereign, we always had the right to ditch any EU regulations we didn’t like. The fact is, there never were any.

What about The Poor Laws, or banning children from going up chimneys, or down mines, or working in cotton mills? I'm sure Jacob R-M can repeal those.....

Bah - minor inconveniences that are worth it in order to, um, get our sovereignty back and, erm, allow us to remove other minor inconveniences that are so important that we don’t know what they are so are asking the average Sun reader …

Putting top tottie on Page 3 (and 2, and 4, and....). I'm sure that all Sun viewers (readers is pushing it) will insist that J R-M does that as a matter of urgency

The UK dropped two places in the global democracy rankings, with experts citing a series of scandals that have undermined trust in Boris Johnson’s government.

The Economic Intelligence Unit (EIU) placed the nation in 18th place in its latest democracy rankings, behind Taiwan and Uruguay, and just ahead of Mauritius and Costa Rica.

Britain was given an overall score of 8.10 out of 10, a decline from 8.54 the previous year. In a gloomy assessment, the EIU said the country was “edging closer to a flawed democracy classification”.
