I went to the matches with, Nig Taylor and Murch, but use to drink in the grins with Crumbie and McCallum,
I know them I went to school with Kev and The Rock and know Nig well but only who Murch is. What’s your initials mate.
I said, last week, I'd been told that Keane and the club had agreed an 18 month deal but the small print needed sorting ... ... after the various stories about second interviews, Lennon, McCann, Keane walking etc, I reluctantly asked again. Been told exactly the same again tonight as I was last week. Same lad who told me to post the 'Defoe is back' thread before he was announced.
Me too mate but these contracts, with staff coming and going, are more complicated than one man replacing Johnson.
When it comes from you and @Wheatsheaf, I'm happy its pretty much correct. My guess is the hold up is either length of contract, terms of contract (e.g. It's for say 18 months but with a break clause after 6 months), what backroom staff he wants or can have, or that one or both side want specific guarantees, and this has taken the time up. One thing that needs to be said, since he became involved with us, KLD and the club have played things very quietly and kept their cards a close to their chest. Very little leaks out, and I think most journalists hear very little unless the club wants them to. It's a good thing in general that they do this, far too much used to leak out in the past. But in this case it's become a problem. A vacuum, that's allowed rumours to fill it, it hasn't dulled speculation down and if anything has caused guess work and rumours to run too far and raised more and more questions. I think this has been their first big mistake and I hope to god they learn from it.
Well if it's sorting backroom team then fair enough, it'll take a while. Looks like the trip to Cheltenham will be spent on here again pressing refresh!
This x 10. Everyone is drained now, even by Sunderland standards this has been a roller coaster of epic proportions, i'm confident KLD will deliver the correct appointment, there is obviously a very good reason why it hasn't been done, as frustrating as it is, id rather it be a week later than we wanted but it being the very best man. Keep the faith my friends.
I also think one of the biggest hold ups has been the timing, I believe the club would have like it sorted and announced by Friday, when it wasn't there was probably always going to be a delay due to Keanes TV commitments over the weekend
i can understand the clamour to get him in place ASAP, but if he's coming it won't be on a short term contract, and if he's bringing in his own backroom staff, he might want all these lined up before he signs the contract, not an easy task if you're asking people to leave their jobs and commit to SAFC.
Can you imagine (Ok a vivid imagination after Saturday) - we hammer Cheltenham - stop laughing and on Wednesday Mike Dodds is announced as new manager! Meltdown would be canny spectacular
