After a dire performance against Newcastle Utd just before the International break, the gap between Leeds and the bottom three has narrowed to just seven points. They will be hoping they can perform the same kind of heroics, as last season when an injury plagued team without Phillips, Llorente and Cooper recorded an unlikely 3-0 away win, courtesy of a Patrick Bamford hat-trick. Unfortunately, this time around, Leeds are likely to be without their goal scoring talisman as well. Bamford has not started a competitive game since the 1-1 draw at St James Park in September, and Leeds will be keen to reintroduce him to action gradually. There is better news for Junior Firpo, Crysencio Summerville and Adam Forshaw. All are all expected to be fit to start, if selected. Liam Cooper, Kalvin Phillips, Charlie Cresswell and Jamie Shackleton who have all resumed training; all are expected game time this month. Raphinha has returned from International duty in fine form. He opened the scoring against Paraguay, and tormented them for 80 mins. Villa have had a busy transfer window, adding Philippe Coutinho, Lucas Digne and Robin Olsen to their squad in the hope of a top half finish come May. Marvelous Nakamba (knee) and Leon Bailey (thigh) are ruled out by the hosts.
Need scum to beat the thugs today, and toon and Everton to hopefully draw so if we put Stevie gerrarddddddd in his place that would be a great midweek fillip obviously coutihno is a big threat so we must be on our guard with him.....good old ground is villa park though let's keep the holte end quiet
After Bielsa's presser its clear Bamford isn't even jogging yet. I doubt he will play again this season. Firpo out until the weekend too. Phillips and Cooper back beginning of March. Forshaw fit, Cresswell fit and Shackleton fit. Summerville asked to leave the club in January.
I find it a bit odd about Summerville & Drameh pushing to leave. These are youngsters brought in with a chance to break into the first team and play in the Premier League, widely recognised as the best league in the world. Sure enough they have been given (limited) opportunities and have done "ok" - nothing wow about either yet but it is early days. Whatever happened to patience and working your way in / earning your place?
He also said, from what I understood, that Gelhardt was only passed fit the day before so he was careful about using him. It was interesting to hear that they had the same problem with 10 players that they had with Summerville.
to me it looks like the 3 at the bottom now will go down, Leeds should just have enough in them given the injury situation so stay up but it will be tight. We should managed a draw against Villa , and if god smiles on us a modest ricochet off an arse for a 1 nil win, lets face it we will take any win or points now.still have lots of entertainment factor though against some of the boring plodders we have to endure
I read that as 10 youngsters all wanting to leave for various reasons. The other side of that is Dan James has said he has learnt so much from Bielsa in a short period of time. I guess it's the same at any club. If you are playing then you are happy. If your sat on the bench you are unhappy.
My guess regarding the youngsters was they were possibly lead to believe they’d get a greater chance to feature due to our small squad size and it hasn’t worked out for them.
I thought he said there were 10 players in the same position. It could be that 10 asked to go out on loan or perhaps that 10 players are at the same stage of development and proximity to 1st team football?
They probably have their place and I'm sure at some point I have had a pair. Would I buy some now, probably only if I also had some green wellies, a barbour and a double barrelled shot gun, but even then probably not the right trousers to wear.
pink i think same colour as his monical, herr flick is never without his please log in to view this image
So ignoring Jammies trouser fetishe I'm going for a deserved 0-1 win for us. Koch will have Coutinho wrapped up and Tyler will score a worldie goal.
Hopefully that will happen........ after he comes on in the 80th minute to replace hat-trick hero Gelhardt.
