The stereo typical view of Keane just being a hard man isn’t accurate…some players love him, some don’t, much like all managers but he has standards and expects people to follow them.

sutton was spot on….why sack Johnson with no one lined up, this is football not a kindergarten…

Other fella was simply saying Keane could be exactly what we need, immediate impact and lift heading into business end of the season

Nixon makes sense. Sound out and meet contenders, the board meeting the chosen few. Explains the second interview

If the club have other irons in the fire it means they're taking things seriously and not rushing a decision. That suggests to me that Speakman isn't as incompetent as some want to make him out to be. If one candidate won't accept the terms on offer, they have others than can move on to.
The whole point of this set up is that the coach/manager has to fit the profile set by the club rather than the inner workings of the club changing due to the requirements of the manager. A sensible approach given the regularity with which clubs change manager these days. It means that no one person can hold the club to ransom and surely that's the best thing for the club. If Keane is the right man, he'll sign. If he's not, we'll move on and I'll applaud the club for sticking to their principles.

If there is anything we can f*ck up......we do it. Get Keano appointed ffs or bring back Parkinson, Grayson or Johnson......same old, same old.

You can't blame them for sticking to the principles but if the sacking of Johnson was down to a number of things that had built up then this process should be further down the line than it is now

You're right, Sutton was spot on. All clubs go behind failing managers backs looking for a suitable replacement before showing them the door, so why should Sunderland be any different?

    Very naive of Speakman IMO.

    Message From The DOF.

" The interview process to find a new head coach has been both wide ranging and thorough, as befits our strategic vision"

" During the course of this evolving process and in line with our mission statement, we asked Mr Keane if he could re-imagine his career and see himself being on board with our core values and medium and long term aspirations."

"Further, we asked whether he would be comfortable with a forward leaning presence, achieving alongside him, working toward our goals together."

"We then discussed the linear continuum of our organic structure and what part he thought he might envisage for himself within it."

"Finally and at Mr Keane's own suggestion, we turned to football. We said that we hoped to transform the paradigm, culminating in an overarching viewpoint which would seek to develop a new zeitgeist"

" Mr Keane then said, 'I thought you wanted promotion?', and then left the room."

The process is currently still in it's ongoing stages, and we will seek to communicate further in due course.

When it all started and before keane was seriously considered, I put a few bob on Alex Neil at 20/1 as I thought he seemed best choice out of the names at that point.

Can’t be arsed with it any more regardless of who they appoint they have been naive in the extreme not to have their candidate ready and in place to go…..let’s not forget none of the names mentioned actually have jobs

He failed here because he refused to give an inch. Thought he could manage like Clough when the game had long since moved on. Couldn't handle players with egos the size of his own. If none of that has changed, he'll fail again.
