This makes for an interesting read from the time he joined Hull. https://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/grant-mccann-hull-city-tactics-3012552
McCann is not what we need. We've tried others like him with a lower league promotion on their CV. Then they come to a big club and can't handle the pressure. It's a big personality we need in this situation. Someone who can rattle our underperforming players and lift the fans.
Must admit I am starting to worry about the time this is taking. If we are mot careful our chances of top 2 will be gone, and in that event we are less attractive to aspiring head coaches. Tomorrows game feels a must win to me. If Keane isnt announced today then I would assume there are still sticking points for him / us. I doubt it is money, but do wonder if contract length is. I have this doubt that when they sacked Johnson they thought they would go for Keane. He doesnt seem to fit what has talked about up until now. I wonder if the club wants him on initial deal for this season but Keane wants longer, say 2 and a half years? Pure guesswork on my part.
Whoever we go for it is as always a gamble, no guarantees with anyone. He’s still young for a manager so has time to develop. I’m not opposed to him as today is the first time I’ve took any notice of his career, and he has won promotion from this league recently, but I would prefer Keane. And this is mainly because I see him as the gee up the club and players need at this time.
Just listened to it. It's only a10 minute thing where Luke Edwards has reiterated what's been said on here. Basically that his source told him that Keane was offered the job on Friday and he can't work out why the club has come out and said that they are doing 2nd interviews unless they are preparing for Keane to say thanks but no thanks but apparently Keane wants the job and the club want Keane to take it. He's in the same position as us - confused to ****!!
The delay (if indeed it IS a delay) is starting to worry me. If the club are putting stuff out in the media about "2nd interviews" and Luke Edwards is right that Keane believes he's been offered the job then something is about to blow up and I can see RK walking away from it If we end up appointing McCann I can see people giving up this season. This feels like a Parkinson-type appointment - only if the frame because he got Hull promoted last year
Thanks - hopefully it's just the club trying to divert attention away from Keane until such time as they completed the negotiations @Wheatsheaf gone very quiet I notice
That was a point that Edwards made. He thinks that they put it out to take back control of the situation cos it took on a life of it's own when the fans found out and wanted Keane back
I really hope they don't **** this up because appointing a McCann or a Neil followed with failure in the play-offs is going to see any lasting goodwill dragged from the club. I can see a lot of people giving up season cards for a 5th season in this league
I think the form can change quite quickly. We have gone on long unbeaten and winning runs. We can do that again I believe. One performance can change the whole mood in my opinion. Confidence looks shot to bits but it will return as quickly as it is lost for young players.
I really don't think it will be him. On paper, he doesn't sound like a disaster mind. There are other people out there that I'd prefer. Pretty certain it will be Keane though.
