Good Morning. It's Monday 7th February, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road City youngsters put eight past Leeds Manchester City U18's gave Leeds an absolute hiding at Thorp Arch on Saturday as they stretched their lead to six points at the top of the U18 Premier League North. The young Whites have conceded 25 goals in the last four games, and find themselves in 11th place in the table (out of 14)and have not recorded a victory since thumping bottom of the table Newcastle 5-1 back in November. Even with Mateo Joseph making his debut for Scott Gardner's side, it did little to help Leeds from their slump. Leeds actually took the lead twice in the match. Carole opened the scoring in the very first minute, whilst Charlie Allen's curling free kick had put them back in front, after Dickson had levelled on twelve mins. Their other goal came on the hour mark from Luca Thomas to level the match at 3-3. Unfortunately, City ran riot in the last half hour, scoring an additional five goals. Leeds have now conceded 43 goals this season, ten more than bottom of the table Newcastle Utd. please log in to view this image Bamford to miss Villa clash Elland Road journalist Beren Cross has his doubts whether Patrick Bamford will make his long awaited return on Wednesday night at Villa Park. The 28yo hitman has not featured in the starting XI since the 1-1 draw at St James Park, midway through September. He made a cameo appearance against Brentford early in December, but a reckless goal celebration sent him straight back to the treatment table. He said: “I have my doubts. I’m not sure. It’s not just about being able to count on him, it’s that he arrives in conditions to develop his game. “A player who’s gone so long without playing, it opens up a question mark, after he is healthy, (about) how long he needs to show his regularity.” please log in to view this image James lauds Bielsa's training methods During a recent interview with BBC Radio Leeds, Dan James has been talking about life, under Bielsa. The 24yo joined Leeds last Summer in a 25m deal from their bitter rivals Manchester Utd, and whilst he is yet to set the World alight, the Welsh International winger believes Bielsa's training methods have helped his on-pitch displays. "The detail is second to none," "Everything is so fine and detailed. The one-to-one meetings and everyone’s obviously got their individual clips to look at, which he goes through with you. "The detail of it. I've learnt so much here already and I’ve still got so much to learn, but he’s been absolutely brilliant since I’ve come in." "There’s times where he’s had to reiterate things, but there’s stuff in the games you do which maybe doesn’t get seen," "Off the ball I find myself doing without even thinking anymore because we do it in training every single day." please log in to view this image
It's an absolute travesty for James the he went to scum. At the time he was supposed to be learning and progressing he was being educated by OGS, he would have benefited so much under Bielsa. I blame Swansea, they're welsh and that says it all.
Morning all We might as well give up on Bamford this season, even if he shakes his injuries off he is going to be miles away with fitness. They’ve all been muscular and foot injuries too so he won’t have been able to do any kind of fitness conditioning. I remember debating at the start of the season where we might finish, one of the conditions was “IF” Bamford hits the same form. I seriously wish we’d cashed out on Rodrigo and got ourselves a proper striker. Now is the time for Bielsa to decide if Joffy is good enough to step in next season or not, give him some game time now as James confidence and value is plummeting every time he is played as a striker
Good Morning and I do hope you are feeling well Doc Bamford was in my local supermarket on Sat in Collngham and he looked fit to me so we will wait and see.Seemed a very polite person to me
The U 18s are struggling just like 23s and the 16s. First team injuries have damaged the whole season for the club in general. 23s not allowed to play as required for 1st team bench. 18s drafted into cover for 23s and in turn 16s covering for 18s. None of the academy teams have been at full strength since September. Bielsa has had a bad hand this season and has had to shuffle the pack and square peg it a lot. He is now lucky enough to be back to full defence capabilities except for Cooper but no issue with that. Bielsa however for me has made one massive mistake which was highlighted in the last match. Joffy should have started, but came on after Roberts who again was pants. Joffy only had 10 minutes to try and do something, yet he could have started and if he failed could have been swapped at half time. The crowd change when Joffy comes on and we need every bit of help we can get. Marcelo you screwed up with Joffy he is our second best striker and in real terms is a better striker than Bamford but not able to do the other stuff Bamford does as good as him yet. Joffy doesnt need as many chances as Bamford to score
Hi Doc, hope you're getting better by the minute. Remember, you can still have a laugh, so if you're wired up to monitoring machines, have a **** now & again to keep them on their toes. I've got a gut feeling about the u23s, but don't have the numbers available to make it more than a guess. I don't think it's the injuries that are affecting our 'u' teams. I don't know if it was the same for the u18s, but I know for a fact that we've always had a load more in the u23 squad. Weeks could go by without some players getting a game. Yes, there were too many! Far too many! So I'm guessing we culled it so we could concentrate on the better players, only we overdid it. Pretty sure we regularly had a squad of 30+ u23 players, & although I don't know how big the u23 squad is now, I'm pretty sure they'll be struggling to have 20+, rather than 30+.
i think they did already hence **** performance had all the energy sucked out of them. no the wonder they are so spritely
