I don’t mind corporate jargon. I’m full of it myself in my day-to-day job What I don’t like though is corporate jargon that isn’t backed up. Most of the time what he says sounds intelligent, thought through and correct, but occasionally you hear it and it sounds like a line he’s rehearsed as he thinks its the right thing to say when the answer might not be as nice to hear.
I think what LD19SAFC means by this is that SAFC did not have anyone lined up. When we sacked LJ and someone came in 2days later then fair enough. But that is not the case. We are in an important part of the season (actually critical) and we seem to be aiding teams around us by throwing points away.
Bloody hate corporate jargon, that’s exactly what it is Jargon, I used to sit through manager/board meetings and all you could remember was how sore your backside was listening to the s hit.
I think their process was still a few days wasn’t it? Conceivably you could speak to 20 people in those 2 days. It’s why this idea that we are interviewing people slowly and then doing second interviews scheduled a week later is obscene. It just makes no sense. I don’t believe the club are that incompetent. So something else is going on. Like @Prehab26 and Luke Edwards have alluded to - its almost certainly Keane and Keane only, and we are just into the fine details around contract and back room staff. But if thats the case - why do Saturday’s interview? Why are leaks going to certain parts of the press saying more people are being considered? Why is Alex Neil talking on SSN today as if he’s still in the running? I’d like to think its because we are keeping those plates spinning in the background in case Keane falls through - its the only explanation. And the people reporting the further interviews are getting the info from sources that either don’t realise or don’t want to share that Keane is close to being done.
I think people need to calm down a bit. Sometimes it takes time to get to the right decision. I think it's a bit unfair for people to suddenly be putting the boot into Speakman. Hes effectively had two transfer windows and I think the signs, overall, are promising. Yes we are a defender light but we dont know the circumstances and clearly Speakman and club are trying to change whole dynamic of signings. It takes time and patience. We might not go up this season but what do we do if we don't? Toss it all away and go back to signing L1 plodders or continue investing in youth and trust longer term things will improve? Re.the new manager.. lets wait and see. It would have been good to have it sorted by now but these things are never straightforward. If we appointed someone immediately - like a McCann- I'd have been more concerned.
Bookies suspend betting on Keane - https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/spo...oy-keane-next-sunderland-manager-23006934.amp
Makes me ****ing sick. SAFC in their 4th season of L1 football and you’ve got clowns like that at the club saying those sort of things. About time we had some proper standards.
It's a bit of a panicked echo chamber on here. No criticism of that, a couple of bad results on the trot and it's natural. But we don't know what's going on. We don't know how long it will take to get Keane on board. They might be moving as fast as possible to get the right man. Calm heads needed.
