Never saw my favourite, Peter Green, live but best performance from a guitarist live I saw was Rory Gallagher when he was with Taste.

Yes. Saw The Rats. About 1966/1967 time.Seem to recall he was playing a Gibson Les Paul which not many in bands at that level could afford in those days.
One under rated guitarist was Tony Hicks of the Hollies. Great band love. Weren't considered very cool but could recreate their sound on stage better than virtually any band I saw. Impressive given the state of amps in those days compared to now. Their drummer was better than some who are more widely known as well.

The Hollies put together some beautiful songs.

I love a good drummer!! Mick Fleetwood immediately springs to mind, love his style.Nicky Headon from the Clash was awesome and could play any genre to perfection.Funnily enough when Joe Strummer was plying his trade in the years before he passed,he had a drummer called Luke Bullen who was absolutely outstanding.

I never did rate Ringo Starr?

Ringo Starr suited the Beatles and what they played though. Hated the craze during the late sixties for interminable drum solos. We used to go to the bar at Brid Spa and sink a couple of pints during some of them. Ginger Baker and a couple more could carry them off. Most couldn't.

For the job of keeping time, the principle job of a drummer, you couldn't beat All Jackson. Though
my dad would always bring up Gene Krupa if drummers were mentioned.<laugh>

Not a big fan of Cozy Powell then?:emoticon-0100-smile

The Clash did a magnificent job of 'time is tight' on the Black Market Clash L.P.

Taylor of Queen is superb too.

Cozy Powell was good. As was Aynsley Dunbar. Thing was they added to the sound but didn't overpower it.

I worked with a good drummer down south who rated Ringi Starr a lot and I heard some drumming expert say it was completely wrong for him to be underrated- said he introduced some unique playing methods / style . I’m not an expert tho .

Best drummer I've ever seen live was Steve White (Style Council, Paul Weller, The Players, Trio Valore)
Phenomenal drummer, and thoroughly nice bloke too.

Weirdly I saw him playing a drum clinic in Springhead Pub in Anlaby once.

He did. He mixed it with half the world over the years. I think I first saw him with The Bluesbreakers?
