Of course not, but this should’ve been sorted last week. Surely they knew who they wanted, get it sorted FFS. Did you watch that shower of ****e Saturday and listen to Speakman’s bullshit? Need to get a move on and get some proper standards into this club.
"Should have been sorted last week"

How do you know that? As others have stated, what if Keane said he's start this week after his media commitments. Would you still hold the opinion that they should "get it sorted FFS"?

So you'd rather we had just appointed whoever was available instead if getting the right man in?

I think the point he is trying to make is that the much trumpeted structure was meant to smooth out these things.

Johnson was sacked apparently because of a number of things, which implies they had been thinking about it for a while. It doesn't look like they have made any early contact with alternatives - which quite reasonably happens all the time - and if that is true then it is a fair criticism.

But it right to say get it right a week later, rather than getting it wrong last week, if they indeed didn't have anyone lined up.

I think it's highly likely they had a few names before sacking Johnson but you can't start going out to managers before you've sacked the current one, that just isn't on. Things move really fast in football, maybe they planned to sack him once they had someone lined up but the 6-0 was the final straw and they couldn't allow Johnson to continue after that

There are so many conspiracy theories because basically we have nothing else to talk about. If it's Keane and he comes in this week then brilliant. Tuesday isn't exactly a season defining game because we've blown automatic promotion anyway. We need to use the next 15/16 games to build up momentum to take us into the play offs in good form. That's the sole aim now, although Kristen Speakshite won't publicly admit that

What a stupid question, if it was all sorted but Keane had to finish his commitments, tell us that the atmosphere would still be brilliant but it’s bloody dead now.
Haven't both Wheatsheaf and Prehab said it was all agreed on Friday?

Fair enough. But clubs really do scout alternatives before they act. It's quite reasonable but just not talked about.

Put another way, what other business, turning over many millions of pounds annually, would make such an important change without planning?

But my hunch is that the sacking of Johnson was more a final straw moment, an impulse, ( probably widely shared!) and they have started from that point.

I think you can certainly draw up a list, maybe even put a few feelers out pre-sacking but realistically is it wise to start interviewing candidates before you've sacked your own manager?

I think you are right that whilst the Johnson sacking was an accumulation of things, the Bolton game was the final straw and it's maybe taken them a bit by surprise hence the delay.

On the other hand it's quite normal to have a week or so between sacking and appointing. I can remember Advocaat and PDC getting appointed the next day after a sacking but Poyet, Allardyce, Moyes, Grayson, Coleman and Parkinson (as far as I remember) took at least a week

Maybe Keane won't sign a contract until he's finished with ITV
Maybe he had some sort of contract with them to do all the FA Cup games this season and has had to negotiate getting released

Ultimately we don't know and can only speculate but I find the posters on here using the 7 day delay in appointing a manager as a means to criticise the club quite baffling

Plenty of other clubs take over a week to appoint managers. It's not like it's unheard of.

I'm as frustrated as anyone and Saturday was absolutely dire all round.... it HAS to be Keane and has to be as soon as possible - but life isn't that simple.

Tomorrow night will have Dodds and Proctor in the dugout again and that doesn't bear thinking about. They were in training yesterday and I assume this morning before travelling down this afternoon so even if we got our finger out and appointed Keane it'll be too late for tomorrow's game unless he has a few words in the dressing-room beforehand. I think the arrogance of our 'leadership' team had Saturday's game down as an easy 3 points and probably the same for tomorrow and is going to end up as a massive bite on the arse.

I think we ALL had Saturday's game down as an easy 3 points. It WAS an easy 3 points but unfortunately the players played as if it was too.....

Fully appreciate that but the position we are ( albeit top 4) currently and the point of the season combined with a very poor run of form creates greater urgency...but understand the appointment has timescales.

Absolutely zero reason this shouldn't have been sorted 2 or 3 days after Johnson was sacked. All the main names linked with the job are out of work. Bloody disgrace letting it drag on this long. The chuckle brothers in Dodds and Proctor have already cost us one game, soon to be two if they're in charge tomorrow. KLD and Speakman need to get their f*cking fingers out.

A lot of comments about the management not being prepared for sacking LJ, suggesting it was almost on impulse. I agree, but can anyone argue with the pulse that made the decision necessary ... losing 6 nil to the 15th in the league. No one was forecasting that.
I actually respect the management setup for trying to keep the team together as long as they could, but, 6-0 to Bolton. LJ had to go.
I only hope they know what they are doing when choosing the next team boss. I don't know.

Its been horrifically handled by the club no matter if Keane has or hasnt accepted the job.
The lack of media knowledge in the club is criminal. If Keane had accepted then the time to annouce it was by him on ITV over the weekend, absolute maximum exposure for the club on national media. The fact its dragged on to lunch time today appears to indicate a problem or they are actually still going through the process which is barmy.
To sack Johnson with no one in line for succession goes totally against what Speakman said was the sporting director model. The match tomorrow has now come too quickly for any new manager to have any real effect on the team that badly needs direction. West Brom sacked their manager and Bruce was instantly in. We have shown a real lack of leadership and knowledge in professional football. When you peel the footballing side of things back there is a real lack of experience there.
