Hopefully Nigel Pearson is ok. Seems to have had a few medical issues recently. https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www....ristol-city-explain-manager-nigel-6631572.amp
He is still around like a bad smell. Laurence Bassini threatening to wind up Charlton Athletic Football Co. Ltd over alleged £1.7M unpaid debt inc interest. Bassini's Bloom Properties Ltd today served a statutory demand under the Insolvency Act, giving it 21 days to satisfy the debt. Mr Bassini's lawyer, Will Osmond, told the Jewish Telegraph that his client's company was owed the funds by Charlton's former chairman Matthew Southall as an 'introducer's fee' agreed with Mr Bassini to help him purchase a majority stake in the football club. Mr Southall then entered into an agreement with Bloom Properties to transfer the debt to Charlton which took responsibility for its repayment, which thus far it has not.
Too many nefarious dealings going on here - or went on before the change of ownership. I can't imagine that the new owner, Thomas Sandgaard, knew anything about this supposed debt. It probably all hinges upon whether or not Southall actually did transfer the debt to Charlton FC as he 'agreed to' - if he did, then it must have been somehow hidden from Sandgaard. If he didn't, than Bassini should be chasing Southall. Somewhere along the line, the Football League's 'Owner's and Director's Test' should probably be called into question too. One positive from this - it makes the Pozzos look good. Charlton have had at least 14 managers since the Pozzos took over here - but there's been none of this nonsense with them.
It is quite interesting to see that the Bloom Properties Ltd accounts do not show anything that could be a sum like that due for repayment. The latest accounts show no assets and debts of £130,000. It is a £100 company with just the one director. Earlier this month an attempt was made to dissolve it, but on appeal it remains.
I wonder if it will be time for Rodgers to move on from Leicester? Really seem to be going stale there and are having a disappointing season.
Really sad news - George was a fantastic goal-scoring winger for us and, annoyingly, for Reading. An early hero of mine.
Yes, I remember seeing George Harris play for Watford when I was a young boy. He was a left winger, but he scored a lot of goals with his head. I wonder whether there is a connection with his dementia. Very sad news.
He was a very good player in his day and had a long career. Born in 1940 he wasn't that old when he died, and as you say he was playing in the days of the old heavy leather balls. No nice retirement from football with lots of money in the bank. He started work as a painter, that he turned into a shop fitting business. Lots of memories for which I would thank him, but sadly cannot.
A bad day or two for 4 ex Hornets. Both Carlisle and Leyton Orient have today sacked their managers, Keith Millen and Kenny Jacket respectively, also leaving the clubs are David Holdsworth Carlisle Director of Football and Joe Callen (ex junior) assistant Manager of the Orient!
Good ol TD 9 , he’s heading up a campaign to have inclusive black history in national curriculum, reflecting the real part played in empire , slavery and the contribution to society by black / asian people , thereby trying to reduce racism and negative images . He’s come a long way , heard his podcast with theroux , and he’s serious about stuff !
