“we have a data and analytics team and we want them to be able to robustly challenge the process and make sure we have no misconceptions”. When did this utter waffle become part of football?? I can imagine cloughie listening to this giving it the thousand yard stare before marching him out door by his ear!
People like this use jargon and buzzwords to make themselves seem more intelligent than they are. They only succeed in making themselves look stupid
Literally every half decent football club in the world has a data and analytics team... This whole ****e of "Cloughie didn't need data" is unbelievably dumb
This is why i cannot allow myself to get excited of the prospect of keane coming back as i just refuse to believe he would want to work for a bloke who spouts ****e like this on a regular basis.
You listen to the lads who played for him say. You listen to what Souness said about Joe ***in team talk the night before European cup final. These ‘bright young coaches’ believe they’re reinventing the wheel, there’s no substitute for a pair of knowledgable eyes actually watching a player rather than some data driven nonsense on a computer! Remember the saying, lies, dammed lies then there’s statistics.
I just don’t see Keane buying into this ‘model’ to be honest, a model that so far looks doomed to failure. Keanes success last time was based on signing characters he knew about like Kavanagh, Yorke, Connolly, Miller and Evans. Yes he made bad buys like Halford but in the main it was a success. Having no hopers like Dajaku, Corey Evans and Hoffman foisted upon him is a recipe for disaster in my opinion.
You obviously like the waffle from these ‘bright young things’. I’m a bit more old school. That interview from Dodds was toe curling at end of game.
Djaku is a no hoper? Based on what exactly? Hoffman is struggling like any keeper would with the car crash in front of him You really are a negative ****er
There's being old school and then there's completely doing away with any advances in football since the 1980s because Cloughie didn't have it. Amazed you're using the internet, thought it would a bit too modern for you
Based on what I watch week in week out, I don’t need an analyst to tell me otherwise. Good keepers inspire the players in front of them, Hoffman has me a bag of nerves so f@ck knows what an 18 year old kid makes of it!
I’m not saying do away with it I’m saying there’s no substitute for a pair of knowledgeable eyes looking over a player, making enquiries into his character from reliable sources and contacts.
And Djaku? Also as your so obviously qualified, having 2 centre half's that refuse to attack the ball and let it bounce then struggle to the second ball has no impact on a keeper?
You’re obviously satisfied with the prospect of a 5th straight season at this level! I can only assume you’re a bairn as if you think this is the norm for a proud club like ours I feel for this generation of support.
If you seriously think our recruitment team just looks at a spreadsheet of statistics, signs them and then waits to see who turns up for the medical just because you heard Speakman say the word data you need help mate. Again, every single decent club in the world uses data and analytics as part of the scouting process. Some more than others, but every single one. Ffs even Big Sam is an advocate of analytics
Of course it can but the keeper is there to command his area and he’s anything but commanding. I’m interested to understand what makes you so satisfied with our situation? Any criticism and you have your heckles up. If you’re satisfied then I’m pleased for you but I know I’m certainly not.
For a supposed data analysis approach half our team dont appear to break sweat and the fitness of some is shocking. I dont need a computer software package to tell me some of them put minimal effort in yesterday.
What have they looked at with this shower they’ve brought in exactly?? Whatever ‘method’ they’re using it certainly hasn’t worked. The double Dutch from speakman down to the managers just exacerbates the issue in my opinion.
