he seems to have a knack of making sides look stupid by reacting quickly to poor play. he basically reacted first on that second goal and recently score v Brentford when their basically made a set of particularly stupid passes form a goal kick He's got 4 goals in the league cup for us, 1 in the FA cup and 2 in the league now this season. We put him in more in the CL and he played the last two games allowing us to rest his betters. 1 v arsenal in the 4:0 win, on as a late sub to give a rest ot his betters 1 v brentford also late sub to give a rest for 15mins. 2 v norwich in league cup, played 90 1 v preston again played 90 1 v leicester to get us to pens. again played the full game and misse dpen in the shoot out. now 1 in fa cup v cardiff. i don't count preseason games where he did fin in these numbers. If you are getting that kind of return form a "squad player" resting his betters but getting us through the early rounds it is indeed value for 7mil. I'd just rather have another jota to apply real pressure on the first choice players the nice thing though is he is "generally" fit and available unlike shaqiri or origi who seem to spend most of the year not arsed to be fit and then turn up for a big game or whatever.
better than shaqiri cos he's fit but when you surround with "better players" as our squad now has he is picking up pieces this season compared to last. Look at the teams we are able to play now. We send on konate, jota, keita, milner v leicester after being 1-3 down at HT. the ball falls to him and he slots it late. most of the game he wasn't great. didn't do too much today either generally but did alright after going deeper. again he reacted first which is a good talent to have. However lets never kid ourselves either. If we pick up an injury to someone he's not coming in for them, we will push and pull others into slots to avoid using him too much. he is allowing others to have a bit of a rest at times and that imo is important while a kid like gordan might develop and displace him hopefully. Diaz Mane Jota Firmino Salah The gap is RW cover. ox, elliott, gordan, minamino gives cover but none can replace salah. you have to feel now we have that with the other slots. The nice thing is he's a nice lad who'll try in anyone of the slots and in midfield and all so again that has that bit of value. But then again..... elliott and jones can do that too.
Thing is minamino isn’t a winger. He doesn’t have the pace to play out wide in our system. In theory he’s a better false 9
7m Always fit Contributes when he plays Happy with his place in the pecking order Whats not to like imo. Compare that with naby lad. 55m Never fit Does **** all when he plays Happy to pick up stupid money for it. Yet taki gets more grief on here. Its weird.
Does he? I think Keita gets far more stick. Everyone can appreciate Mini puts in a shift every game he plays. Quality wise just not quite there but he’s scored goals for us and always tries and is always available.
bar he runs away from goal 99.95% of the time. most of this goals are similar. latching onto an error or cut backs where he has finally got in there. watchign us with ox, minime and jota lately has been painful at times TBH.
tbh keita's fee has nothing to do with it. its how he hasn't performed or went missing (real madird game disaster)
Tbf, we were when Kane eviscerated Robbo at Spurs in front of the ref, and a similar pen shout not given on Jota as to the one you never got either. Perhaps even more blatant.
Reminds me of that TV ad some years back for Wyndsors "Massive shoe sale". Had visions of clown shoes and Sandie Shaw.
That shows how rarely whomever wrote the piece gets out to games. They were probably shocked that the whole anfield road end was Cardiff. Cos they had no clue as to fa cup rules And honestly when you put a bunch of predominantly while wales who are drunk together they are noisy. That's away fans for you. But yeah they were fat ****s.
It's all about 3 points now. Roll on leicester. Nothing but the win mattered today. Well that and no broken knees. Klopp got a dusting off job done and now we are full on again. Exciting times ahead
I notice the assist for Mini's goal has been given to Jota (according to the BBC at least) for getting a slight touch as the ball went through his legs - even though Diaz did all the work.
