True. But Ric was another who said the teams whose crowds have been higher are because of season passes and there is a low walk up because of it being January, times are tight, no one with any money...Well, to take Middlesbrough as an example, somewhere similar 5o Hull with similar problems. There were 13,000 at the Riverside early in the season for our visit. When the played Stoke at the end of January there were 23,000 there. So, unless Stoke took 9,000 more there than we did there were a fair few walk ups. Boro also had 9,5000 at Manchester having to leave work or school early for a Friday night televised game. We have a new owner and all the buzz and virtually no difference.
I don't think the pubs and clubs will have been empty on Friday and Saturday so there is money. It is just that not enough decide to spend it on going to watch the local football club.

And does that concession figure include those on the breadline or is it for oaps and kids ? Tbf I don't mind paying what's charged, my suggestion is for those less fortunate who simply can't afford the current prices during the current financial climate.

I think there is something in this too, hence why I said the club needs to rebuild itself in Hull.

The club simply does not have the same connection with the people of our city that those clubs you mention do. It's not part of their make up in the same way.

As I said, some have been lost through the goings on of the last few years, some have found other things to do instead of football. Some can't afford it, and some find it easier to beg for free links on here then go to the game. Each to their own, but I'm confident that it will slowly grow back, especially as performances improve.

One reason is that Hull is daft enough to have 2 rugby league clubs so there is always the chance of cheap glory by being a big fish in a puddle. The only other city which had 2 professional rugby clubs before a football one was Leeds. Most places realise it is the football club which gives them exposure. In Hull councillors seem to think rugby does. Geraghty even said Premier League football had not brought a penny into Hull but he and other councillors seem to think rugby does.

And as quickly disappear. I have sadly come to the conclusion down the years that Hull is not a football city in the way Sunderland, Derby, Portsmouth and some other places are.

The existence of the two rugby clubs doesn't help us in the slightest. It may or may not be a "rugby town" but you can't argue that the competition for interest over the years hasn't hindered us

And herein lies the problem that Acun et al. need to tackle if the city is to change and realise its potential.

Things can change, over time. Doing **** all and not addressing it means that it won't.

Nope we aren't, but I do think we could comfortably sustain a healthy match day attendance

    It deffo has.

Football is funny in Hull though. When I was a kid, my school only had a RL team, but at the same time, we apparently had the biggest Sunday League in the country.

I think it's the connection to the club more than anything. There are too many indifferent to the club.

Spot on, hence why Acun needs to encourage them back in one form or another

I’m sure we all went to school with the type of person who fervently supported either Rovers or FC but were apathetic or even hostile to City and ‘supported’ any other football club but City. I went to school with a load of them. When it came to RL, they were fiercely loyal to one of the Hull clubs, but supported Man Utd, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal etc. I don’t think there’s another city in northern England whose rugby league fans openly mock its only football club as much as Hull. It’s disappointing and I don’t get it. I’m apathetic towards rugby league as a sport but I don’t have any ill will towards FC or Rovers. Being around them has made me dislike their supporters though.

Also, I think it’s been posted here before, but does anyone have the stats on City’s supporter demographics? I seem to remember a large chunk of membership holders live outside the city limits in the East Riding.

Went to a funeral in Hull a while back of a lad I had known since 1969 through City. Much talk of City at the bar afterwards. Discussion of the pros and cons of the Allams. Two of his ex workmates said it wouldn't have mattered a bit if City had gone under as there are plenty of other teams to support.. Like who I asked. My response that that sort of attitude was why Hull City would always have difficulty. I said try saying that in Sunderland and see the response you get. Same goes for the other teams I mentioned as well. All 3 of them have a lot closer clubs than us as well. Same goes for the likes of Burnley, Bolton, Blackburn and a host of other places.

Is there anything we can't bitch about on here? It's getting worse and somewhat pointless.
