Johnson was Speakman’s man. He should be taking some of the responsibility for it not working out. Not a hint of that in any of his interviews.

I suspect it’s just the need to lash out at someone for yesterday and in the absence of a manager it’s Speakman getting it both barrels.

That then naturally leads to it being entirely Speakman’s fault if Keane doesn’t come (with no acknowledgement that we wouldn’t even be properly linked to or talking about Keane if Speakman hadn’t considered him in the first place).

    I don't believe that's the case tbh.

It's definitely a mentality issue but these are fit players who've won a few battles this season. The tactics don't suit them at all and we need to play more of the game in the opposition half instead of expecting the back three to win us games. We need wins and you don't get those by passing the ball around your own half. Being so cautious, in a home game against the bottom team, was nothing short of ridiculous.

That's because, in my opinion, you can only look forward in football.

He'll feel the responsibility but there's no point moping around the place showing weakness ...

... the players did enough of that yesterday.

Why ? it’s possibly to research, interview and then employ someone who is perfect for your position and then find out slowly after time that they aren’t suited to the team and role.

Ranieri being the perfect example ...

... sometimes, despite all your planning, things just happen by accident.

Whoever the club decides to appoint they need to do it soon...We are in real danger of actually losing a place in the play offs. Never thought I would ever be saying that, but after recent performances (well especially the last 2 performances) we are spiralling down, confidence is shot to pieces...we need someone to start working on what I believe to be decent players in need of man management.

Any update on Keane? Feels like it’s gone very quiet very quickly - has yesterday changed something?

Nothing would happen on a match day, mate. I wouldn't have expected any action over the last 48 hours.

Icing on the ****ing cake will be him pulling out and us appointing McCann or Lennon

So fed up of this club. It's like the skanky girlfriend you keep taking back then the next day you catch her piping off your boss.

This is the big thing, very young side & confidence is shot....i would expect the senior players to lead us out of this, certainly yesterday but there not, evans is not a captain & slows the game down....when what we need is to up the tempo.

yes were hanging everything on keane, little other option & the hooe is he walks through the door & gives this young side the confidence they need, drop evans, i liked the mins i saw from Jay he looks like he could potentially grap the game in midfield, we need to battle through a few & Neil may need a little rest to regain that confidence....hes a young lad inconsistency is expected from youth. site Jay & winchester in midfield, go back to 4 at the back....unfortunately if hume is not ready that may mean shoe horning gooch there for the minute. its had to address a side fully in a couple of windows.

top 2 may???? have gone, if keane gets us going we could enter playoffs in form at least....i guess KTF

After yesterday I'd take anyone with managerial experience.

I'd take anyone who's name isn't Mike Dodds. Bloke is tactically clueless. Worried that he's in charge of the U23s.

He's not, is he? He's an individual coach.

He might not lead them, but he's an U23s coach I believe. Don't believe he's usually involved with the first team on a daily basis.

Individual player development for them, I believe. Arguably a different skill set to preparing them for a match day.

Yeah. Does have a coaching background. His role is one of the modern approaches to the game. I said before on here that it's a good job it's Doncaster as I don't have faith in Dodds and Proctor.

I was wrong. I underestimated Doncaster.

20 years ago a senior player would have been asked to carry out the job for a week as a stopgap and it would have been a better option someone like Willis or Mcgeady picking the side?

They are blinded by these super coaches coach speak, buzzwords and other tosh - they have forgotten it’s a simple game and it’s about the players doing the basics right and not the coaches. We saw that yesterday.
